There is a difference between negativity and realism. As others have pointed out, Leeds now attracts all the investment and Bradford is left with low skilled, low paid jobs. Imagine you want to start a tech business, it’s hard to attract talented young people, or senior executives to Bradford, or if you do they certainly don’t live in the city. Which continues the vicious circle, it’s a fact that working class children in general, in general not a rule, do less well in school than children from affluent families where parents are both well educated. The city I work in is similar to Bradford, it’s lost its main industries, none of the board and only one or two of the senior management live locally, there isn’t the housing or schools to attract them and the same is true of Bradford, as is the case with Bolton, Wigan, Sunderland, St Helens, Wolverhampton, Coventry, Government investment goes to the glamorous neighbours up the road.

The other thing going against Bradford is the same as we talk about for a football ground, if you’re building a huge new science and tech park, manufacturing plant or office complex, where the hell do you put it?

A bit of a tease from Ryan Sparks about the new kit for next season. He would only say that it is something completely different to recent years but with the club's heritage very much in mind. I wonder if we are reviving the 1903 kit!

 

Agreed. A lot less blowing ones own trumpet. Sensible and reasonable answers. But the pressure is off for now as we're not allowed in VP. But when we are that will change especially when the team isn't doing well.

 

I cannot imagine how the hell the team would cope with you raging on then during a bad patch.

 

Read an article somewhere a few weeks ago that Gibb is looking to get back into football, not sure what level, but maybe he fancies owning us again?

 

He already puts a bit of money into football at Scarborough and Pickering,but that's at a much lower level.

 

Gibb us the landlord there are plenty of reasons why Sparks should speak to him. I doubt that there is anything imminent with regard buying the ground under the current financial pressures

I would say it's the other way round. We cannot afford to build a new stadium, I'm pretty sure we wouldn't want to ground share elsewhere and become someone else's tenants, so in my opinion the Pension trust fund has the upper hand

ALL SEEMED STAGED!

 

Apart from Sparkes contribution,it was very much like a few pals having a chat in the pub.

 

That was the bit that seemed staged to me.

Sparks dropped the Gibb bomb. No follow up.
No questions about a director of football.
No questions when Sparks said budget for the training ground pitch.
No questions about Rupp.
No questions about any investment.
No questions about any takeover.

Sparks was just saying the right things to act all positive, dropping bombs and nothing quizzed. It was poor.
