Which would totally destroy the only real magic left in the FA Cup - the opportunity for lower league teams to draw a big PL club in the 4th or 5th rounds, make some money and possibly do a giant killing, like City at Chelsea. If they take that away by seeding they might as well scrap the whole thing.

And yet Manc City were only 6th in the spending league of Premiership clubs last season, They have built this squad up over 5 years and yes have spent a lot but have had a manager who has bought very well, Other clubs have spent lots of money but have had only moderate results like Fulham who despite record spending of millions were relegated

At least it makes us not the worst team in a Wembley final anymore

There is no magic left in the FA Cup Final
It's very very boring any team with the backing of Manchester City should win at least 3 cups a year otherwise it's a massive failure The premier league has been spoken about as the best league in the world it's far from it take away the top 6 teams and you have Championship league 1 Maybe for the sake of English football the top teams should be entered in a newly formed European League highly unfair on the fans who would have to travel every 2 weeks but would make for a more exciting league with the teams left
Not sour grapes just don't like the way the Premiership is headingBronco likes this. -
I will give you the fact that there seems to be a big imbalance between the top 4 and the bottom... but surely that's the same in the tip leagues around the globe?Interested Bystander likes this. -
The top 6 are so far ahead the rest have no hope in catching them
Yes we had Leicester a couple of years ago that won't be repeated for the foreseeable
Our showcase final was nowhere near as exciting as the play offs in the lower leaguesOnside likes this. -

True, but it would be nice to see our club playing like that, what skill

It was boring though, we turned it off at 3-0. I like my football exciting, I like the excitement of two teams being equally competitive, this was nowhere near that. It was like a training match for City.
I was having this discussion with my grandson the other week. We were talking about different systems, and he said the top players are more talented and therefore teams with the most talented players in their side will win. Yes to certain extent, but I also had to explain that football is about teams, and styles of play matter. I said European style teams generally bore me, and he was astonished, ‘but Grandma they are the best teams with the best players’ yes but it is still boring, I prefer English type football what we get in the Championship. Yesterday was a classic example of what I am talking about. The FA cup used to be the most exciting game of the season, and you would occasionally get a team coming through from the lower leagues. Now there is nil chance of that happening, and to top it off, 2/3 teams dominating the rest of the PL. you know the PL are in trouble when the second team gets 90+ points and still doesn’t win.
Sorry for the rant. -
If it would have been Liverpool with city in the final, I'm sure it would have been a different game all together.
I think the current system is fair. However if the final result were like this every year, I'm sure that there would be some sort of seeding system come in, where the top teams couldn't meet each other till later in the tournament. -
Not that it will happen anyway, because I don't think it's likely that the final will be 6-0 each year for the next few years. -

It's still against the essential ethos of the FA Cup though - which is that anybody can draw anybody, even if that means Man City play Liverpool in their fist round.
