Evening Ladies and Gents, Would be interested to hear anyone's thoughts about how we'll be faring come 01 JAN 19.

I'm specifically thinking of League Position, Style of Play, Team Morale, Supporter Morale, Stand out Player.

Personally I'm thinking we'll be sitting around seventh or eighth after a slow start.

Can see us shipping a few goals during the first ten matches, but becoming increasingly frugal as time goes on with 1-0 and 2-1 becoming the norm.

Team Morale should be good, whilst it'll be tough for the first month, personalities seem to be balanced with no obvious sticking points.

Fan morale, God only knows, as stated above it'll be a tough first month or so but with a little luck there should be enough reason for optimism to see us through it. Hopefully gaining momentum from late September onwards.

Tricky one this, early season I think Payne will catch the eye, but over time I'm thinking Akpan will start putting in solid performances week in week out, providing the platform for more advanced players to do some damage.

Does it matter where we are Jan 01 2019? Looking at last year we dropped like a stone whilst others bounced up

I'm looking for a good solid start beginning with a win tomorrow.

Barnsley will be a test but may be the right time to play them before they settle into div 1.

I think we will become stronger and frugal as we gel and I believe we will be there abouts at turn of the year and strengthen further in Jan window.

Injuries and suspensions taken into account.

I tried this in June, but little or no feed back.
I think early to mid October will be a good time to judge, and then take it just one month at a time.
Come mid January, if City are in 'touching' distance of the play offs, then let it play out.
However, if in the same distance for the Title - then schitt ...... Push that goddam boat out and secure it, just as Wigan and Blackburn did. ;)

Well it's not the be all and end all, that's why I asked how we'll be faring over different areas. But I think it's fair to say league position will affect other things. I suspect if we're nine points clear in first then morale for example might be good, whilst us sitting bottom with a GD of -20 might cause issues in other areas. I'm happy to disregard league position but others may not be.

Complete New team, so anything in top half, with chance to push on rather than fade away would do me.

Fair one mate, didn't realise I was going over old ground. For what it's worth there's a little more optimism around than there was in June.

Higher mid table I think. Will be hit and miss over first 10 games but if we are there or there abouts for a push come Xmas onwards

As said up to Christmas in this league Gives you a solid platform but teams come from no where most years to make a late drive for the play offs.

Possibly 20 points clear a the top, goal difference of plus 50, Doyle on 30 goals, a dozen clean sheets for O'Donnell, home third round cup tie against Man U to come, Home & Away Carabao Cup Semi-Final against Man City, But two things are for certain
McCall/Parkinson/Grayson/Lawn/Rhodes/Richmond would have done better :)
and folk will still be moaning about "the German Model"
