I wished Paudie and Vernam well, rightfully so they were good career moves not entirely down to money. This on the other hand, swapping one mid table league 2 side for another one much smaller at that and I’m guessing for the sake of a £100 quid a week or so. He’s not turned shit over night so I won’t be a hypocrite but it’s a crap move I’m not even sure Salford have ever developed anyone to go onto bigger and better things and it’s a low bar they set.

First thing I’d do is sack his agent, all this talk of championship clubs over the last year it’s just embarrassing. I don’t wish you luck Watt I hope we destroy your toy team and wave bye to you in the rear view mirror, good riddance.

Good news.. looking forward to our new midfield enjoying all the possession he'll readily concede, when we play Salford.

It probably tells us nobody in League 1 wanted him.

From a footballing perspective it seems like a peculiar move for him. I'm guessing that he's not taken a pay cut.

Don't think we are in a position to take the mick out of another club sacking managers often.

Watt clearly moved due to being offered more basic at Salford since div 1 clubs were after him.

Does Mark Hughes have a record of developing young players? I don't think it is something he was ever particularly noted for.

We have to look past the name, it guarantees nothing.

I wonder if we gave him a deadline and closed the door on him? He might have been left in limbo and had to take the only offer on the table. We’d still have been entitled to compo as long as we hadn’t
withdrawn the offer but made it clear he would have to fight for his place. If he didn’t feel Hughes could improve him then good luck to him.

Were League 1 clubs after him? I think the move tells us that they weren't really.

So Div 1 clubs were not after Smallwood then?

Which young player are you thinking of?

Elliot Watt is 22, similar age to nearly all of his signings this season.

Unless you're suggesting he's not very likely to be able to develop any of the players he's brought in?

He told Salford's club website: “The big thing for me was I wanted a fresh start and also to play under a coach who I felt can improve me.

“The gaffer was a big part with the players he’s developed at Man United. I spoke to him and he was massive for why I chose to come here.”

I'm not so sure he did have that many better opportunities, hence why he's plumed for the offer of most money he can get at this level. I remember Darragh saying a few weeks ago Watt's agent approached Peterborough and they told them they weren't interested. I think it's a case of his agent bigging up interest that wasn't actually there.

I don't know if he is or he isn't. His name doesn't guarantee that he can and I'm not aware that Blackburn, Man City or Stoke were renowned for bringing on players under his management.

He's with an agency called 'omnisports' who have a massive number of lower league players on their books (plus Chris Smalling for some reason...), and so far they've managed to get Elliot Watt his dream move to Salford (lol), Ferrand Rawson a move from Mansfield to the mighty Morecambe, and helped negotiate Theo Archibald a move from L1 Lincoln to L2 Leyton Orient :D

Let's just say, they're not exactly proving themselves in terms of getting up and coming players big moves... :joy:

It was mooted on here by some that he would get in to the Norwich first team after they were relegated.
I pissed myself laughing at the time and now he’s gone to Salford I’m still laughing.

Very much so. I accepted he might go, but to go and toss that insult over his shoulder is unforgivable. Off you go Watt, take your money and bugger off.
