We are going to need some monumental luck to stay up this season. Hopkin despite the results appears to have brought structure and a plan that the players understand. IF the owners have decided to give Hopkin his head to buy what is required in January then that might be enough. We as always will continue to support the team, as they need us more than ever.

If relegation happens then that is a monumental failure and there is no hiding for Rupp and Rahic, they cannot blame anyone else, they will have overseen the total demolition of a club on the up by completely changing the culture and soul of the club. We were on the brink of promotion and due to Rahic and Rupp not liking or getting on with a Stuart they took their bat and ball home and refused to push on with quality signings, and allow him to finish the job, if not they could have legitimately brought in a new manager. They wasted so much time and money on proving their way was right, and here we are being laughing stock of league 1, and on the brink of relegation.

People might say "Noise" at my commenting that we are not L2 Quality but I stand by it.
Oldham are on a poor run in L2, Plus THEY made 6 changes to concentrate on the League AND we're at home.
We were supposed to have a fabulous young squad. We don't.
I reckon if we'd have started this season in L2 (which would have happened if not for our great start under SM) we'd probably be in the bottom half of L2 given our current quality of players.

This was an important match for me tonight to see how good (or not) we are as a squad.

I still have faith in DH, but Jan will be "Do or Die" in terms of "gifted" finance for the club from our owners to repair some of the damage they've already done.

We're not just a bit behind in terms of quality and position in L1 we're at LEAST a division behind.
Very saddening. Lack of spending last Summer and last Jan (and backroom shambles) killed the club both on and off the pitch.

We desperately need to be in the hunt to escape relegation at Jan (and get HUGE investment in players) and get this mess sorted out.
    Worrying times.

Not immediately. By the same logic, we didn't immediately start losing matches when he arrived. Any changes take time to implement.

Ah thats another question - would hope Josh Wright and perhaps Alex Jones will get some game time at Oldham. Until the Jan transfer window players like Isherwood, Seedorf, Brunker etc need to be kept as match fit as possible - and I do realise as I am typing this that it shows what a state we are in!

    2017/18 winners = lincoln city vs shrewsbury - final position 7th (league 2) + 3rd (league 1); both in play-offs. one promoted.
2016/17 winners = coventry city vs oxford united - final position 23rd + 8th; one relegated.
    2015/16 winners = barnsley vs oxford united - final position 6th (league 1) + 2nd (league 2); both promoted.
    2014/15 winners = bristol city vs walsall - final position 1st (league 1) + 14th (league 1); one promoted.
    2013/14 winners = p'borough vs chesterfield - final position 6th (league 1) + 1st (league 2) play-offs and promotion.
    2012/13 winners = crewe alexandra vs southend united - final position 13th (league 1) + 11th (league 2).
2011/12 winners = chesterfield vs swindon - final position 22nd (league 1) + 1st (league 2); one relegated, one promoted.
    2010/11 winners = carlisle united vs brentford - final position 12th (league 1) + 11th (league 1).
    2009/10 winners = southampton vs carlisle united - final position 7th (league 1) + 14th (league 1).
2008/09 winners = luton town vs scunthorpe - final position 24th (league 2) + 6th (league 1); one relegated, one promoted.

    out of the 20 teams to compete in the football league trophy final over the last 10 years;

    - champions = 3 - bristol city, chesterfield, swindon town.
    - promoted = 4 - lincoln city, barnsley, oxford, scunthorpe utd.
    - play-offs = 2 - shrewsbury, peterborough utd.
    - mid table = 8 - oxford, walsall, crewe, southend, carlisle x 2, brentford, southampton.
    - relegated = 3 - coventry city, chesterfield, luton town.

personally, i don't think 3 of out 20 clubs (15%) being relegated in the same season as being in the football league trophy final can classify as 'many'. in fact 45% of the clubs that have been involved have had successful seasons, i.e. getting promotion or reaching the play-off final.

I’ve not read the previous comments on the game but from what I saw we were well beaten. Oldham looked good and we made them look good. Yes we put a shift in but we were lucky they did n’t score twice as many. Okay we had a few kids in but we played Payne, Ball, Wright, NKP, O’Donnell, Gibson and Brunker. I would imagine our owner planned on all of those to play a part this season.
So a team from League 2 who have won 4 of their 12 games gave us a proper beating and the only positive we can find is that we put a shift in. We can dress it up as much as we want but the stark reality is Rahic has ruined this club leaving our coach clinging to positives and his optimism with our developing 16yr olds.

Oldham couldn't afford a coach to the game - the players had to car share.

that's who we've lost to. christ almighty.

no concern though lads, Edin's got it all under control.

I have no faith what so ever in the cowboys running our club.
Long term success was well on it's way, we had momentum but ran out of money to take us a step further up the league pyrimid hence the takeover.
Now it's a battle royale to gain the points to secure League One status, relying on a make or break decision from above in the month of January to change our fortunes.
    How things have changed.
It's not me being melodramatic after yet another poor showing tonight more of trying to understand the real truth behind everything that's gone on since that day in May and why things have been allowed to continue until it becomes to late to care anymore.

Interesting that Hopkin said on the pulse that we already have targets lined up for January. Let's hope these are his targets rather than Abbott's or Edin's.
