I think there's even a case to be had that Rahic wasn't the worst culprit. Don't get me wrong; he was a loon. Like a kid let loose running a toy shop.... but who gave him the keys to the safe? I don't think for a second he set out to ruin the club. He actually had some very sound ideas but his execution was shocking, his engagement skills terrible and he was clearly not equipped for the role. Maybe he was a narcissist just chasing his own dream, who knows. But he had no self awareness and no real understanding of the context he was operating within and the damage he was doing. But others knew. Others who were more informed, more aware, more capable. Others with a responsibility to ensure that one single loon couldn't bring the club to the verge of destruction. Others who'd apparently 'do anything for this club'. Still, I suppose its easier to talk about your principles than it is to live up to them.

Before we start celebrating 8 good games in 30
or more league and cup games, even though Grimsby seem to be doing their best to help us out by booking a relegation spot, we’re still only 8 points off the drop. Let’s see what happens over the next few weeks, we weren’t great at Exeter and, admittedly in very poor conditions looked lacking in composure against Scunthorpe before it was abandoned. There are two games a week, possibly more later on if there are more Covid cancellations. This season ain’t over yet.

Yes you're right but we could probably have managed it better without those infamous 6 weeks. It wasn't just Carbone's wages and probable signing on fee (and house). There was Dan Petrescue £1 million fee and big wages, David Hopkin £2.4 million fee and big wages, Ashley Ward signing on fee and big wages, all players costing us big time for no visible benefit on the pitch. The only players we signed after promotion with a name in the game who we got much out of on the pitch were Gunner Halle and David Wetherall.

Richmond going batshit crazy certainly made things go downhill very quickly, his crazy strategy based on a non existent deal with on digital has to be up there with the best of stupidity in football. I'm just wondering how good a position we would have been in had we got relegated without Richmond 6 week madness? Could we have survived the spending we underwent to get to the premiership in the first place and the cost Geoffreys valley parade rebuilding programme. Could we have survived as a mid table championship team with Richmond at the helm?

The same plans BFG has written up before he fell out with the council for good. Have you seen the plans, they are available on line somewhere, shows the main stand going right to the end of the pitch

I think that losing Clarke was a bigger issue than I for one expected. We have said that in several games "Clarke had a poor game" but that was in his attacking play. One thing he has been very good at is tracking back and helping out defensively, particularly in the unbeaten run helpingout FCD.

Hopkin needs to shoulder a lot of the blame for our relegation, we weren't even in the bottom four at Xmas and Edin had gone by then. If he'd adequately replaced JOB and not put all his eggs in Jack Payne's basket we wouldn't have gone down.

I'd add Rob Molenaar to that.

That's if our present owner wants to play poker which I very much doubt.
Even with the stadium lease running out in 7 years as you say I cannot see Gibb - pension fund lowering the rent, why would they Bradford City football club arent going anywhere.

Right I will concede that and time will tell but on first glance the majority of the players look the part and I think most fans were happy with the business done

It’s an amazing turnaround, with the right coaching, additions and some luck next season could be a good one. I said before, add 8 or 10 points to the total McCall got, and with the last nine games it would be a very different season.

Yes, but I'd also expect there to be a control system to govern how the CEO/club operates. No one individual should be allowed to run amok, unchecked.

Who owns Odsal these days? And yes I’m serious, talk to them even discuss a potential buy or rent option and make plans to renovate it in time for 2028. Then take all this to Gibbs pension fund and bring them to the negotiating table over either a sale or cheaper rent. Two can play hard ball as @Faithful Bantam@Faithful Bantam said bluff is important in business it’s time Bradford City acted more business minded instead of sentimental.

Agree. If we moved to Odsal that would be me following City by radio and taking the odd game on at Thackley

The argument regarding the rent being both reasonable manageable is a valid one but my thinking was not so much about any substantial development of the stadium because if we eventually attract a money rich buyer (rather than investor) that won't be an issue. In the not too distant future the stadium will need major investment to keep it fit for purpose. Investing in something that isn't even an asset.

Even though I also follow Bradford Bulls/Northern (51 years) I totally agree with you. I would much rather we bought back the stadium, redeveloped it and moved the Bulls in with us. Typical of Bradford Council over the years they missed a trick over Odsal Stadium.
Instead of selling Odsal to the RFL they should have sold the tipping rights, which would have been worth quite a lot, then sold off the land. If Valley Parade was back in Bradford ownership it would have made attracting funding to invest in the Stadium easier with both clubs based there. Bradford Council have never had any long term vision when it comes to professional sport in the district.
The problems with the pitch are not insurmountable, it just needs some investment and a long term plan. We need to sort out the drainage, which we have gone some way to doing already. Then we need to stop relaying so often. The roots of the grass need time to bed in and take hold.
Anyone who as ever attended sport at Odsal on a regular basis will tell you that summer rugby league was the best thing that ever happened to that Stadium.
