The question was ‘how many sold’
I doubt that the pretend VIP’s will pay for a ticket.

well yes and no, bit of both. if it wasn't part based on demand Doncaster wouldn't have given us 700 extra tickets after the first allocation. Don't think Bournemouth would buy 4,000 away tickets to Brighton to say its gate at home is under 10,000. pretty sure Doncaster always have up to 4,300 tickets available in this league. Salford only bought 237 tickets Carlisle bought 1,222. so its both.

There will be more watching on ifollow, which is all revenue for city that they wouldn’t otherwise get To be clear I’m referring to the Gillingham match not Doncaster

Those excuses aren't good enough, City should always come first.

Close the stadiums if it’s all about money! 17000 watching on iFollow is a lovely little earner for the club.

Football is all about the money, for the players, the owners the sponsors and the broadcasters.
And the fans ticket sales are a less significant influence. However ifollow allows clubs to get extra revenue from fans who are unlikely to travel 200 miles on a Tuesday evening

17,000 won't watch in iFollow, also it would lose a lot of matchday income from catering etc so the club won't make more money from iFollow than people at the ground for home games. However, when we only get 5% of away sales we make a lot more from away matches from iFollow than tickets. To put away sales into context if all 4,000 for tomorrow paid the full £20 the club will have only got £4000 which is only 400 iFollow passes. For the Gillingham game we will make far more from iFollow sales than any ticket sales.

I understand the merits of iFollow for midweek games 200 miles away but some on here would have it available for every game however local.

Some don't have the ability to get to games for various reasons. ifollow being available gives them a chance to see a game they wouldn't be able to.

So why would the club push for extra tickets when they can settle for selling just a few of the original allocation, earning a pittance and then cash in on ifollow at 10 quid a throw? Is there some number of tickets they must sell before they the 10 quid off ifollow for each subscriber?

Absolutely right but iFollow should be the exception rather than the rule.
I know of people who host house parties showing iFollow. That’s £10 for a houseful of people watching.

That's certainly the argument used by some clubs. But I wasn't aware that streaming of games within the UK on Saturdays was now legal. Unless that has changed recently, the only iFollow revenues which accrue to the club are from those who watch 'overseas' and pay for the privilege .. but not the full £10 of course. Those who choose to watch the broadcast supplied from criminal sources of course contribute absolutely nothing to the club for their entertainment. That's a matter for their consciences .. and law enforcement.

I accept that midweek games are a different matter and can be streamed but given the experience at VP, it's still drawing in the crowds and we haven't all deserted to iFollow .. yet!

It would be interesting to know how much a difference to a live crowd ifollow actually makes. To be fair there are times when i can't get to a game and i don't bother watching ifollow as i prefer the experience of being at a game if possible.

No chance of Huddersfield taking even half that number to Burnley.
