    With City having signed at least 11 players who could feature in Saturdays match at Shrewsbury it could be that a high number of "new" players could be seen in one match.

    As far as I can see we started with 11 new players in our first ever game on 01/09/1903 and repeated this in our 1945/6 FA Cup 1st round 1st leg game against Notts County on 17/11/1945 (The League programme did not restart until the following season)
    The first match after the first World War on 30/08/1919 saw 10 players made their debut

    In normal circumstances I can only find one match where more than 7 players made their debut and that was on 06/08/2011 when Peter Jackson blooded the following 8 debutants in a 1-2 defeat at home to Aldershot

    Guy Branston, Jack Compton, Martin Hansen, Chris Mitchell. Liam Moore, Niall Rodney, Mark Stewart and Nahki Wells

    Both Stuart McCall (on 11/08/2007 1-1 at home to Macclesfield) and Phil Parkinson (11/08/2012 away at Notts County in the League Cup 1st round which was won 1-0) gave debuts to 7 new signings although McCall's 7 - Conlan, HECKINBOTTOM, EVANS, Joynes, Nsumbu-Nsungu, Rhodes and Williams included 2 highlighted players who had previously played for the club a few seasons before
    and
    Parkinson's 7 included Connell, Darby, DOYLE, Jones, McCardle, Meredith, Thompson - with Doyle also having played for the club in prior times

    O'Connor
    Akpan

    With probably killa the only one from last season starting.

    It will definitively be at least 9 debutantes and more likely 10 with only Killa or NKP starting as the left CB surviving last season. Only other of last season's players that has a chance of starting IMO is Robinson if he manages to win the battle with Seedorf for the left wing position.

    I don't know about you lot, but some of those players names on the opening post, made me shudder :)

    Fortunately, our current crop of debutants look decent enough - on paper anyway.

    I'd expect 8 - O'Donnell, Mellor, O'Connor, Wright, Akpan, Scannell, Payne and Doyle - to start Saturday with 1/2/3 coming off the bench.
