will sign a new contract if they match Sanchez wages. Sanchez wages are now seen as the benchmark all other players at the club expect for equitable reasons. Wow that signing has to go down as one of the worst. No such thing as a free transfer

Sanchez's wages are over-inflated in the press though as the £500k a week they like using includes image rights and bonuses (And he has hardly been racking those bonuses up). His actual wages are said to be around £350k a week which is the deal that's been on the table for DDG for a while now.

Like most of the players he was just stalling while Jose was still there and now they are most likely just putting the finishing touches to the finer details

But surely he will want similar image rights and bonuses available too

He already has the same image rights deal as Sanchez. All the players get the same percentage of income generated with their 'image'. Infact I would hazard a guess that with Sanchez having failed to set the world alight DDG made more in the last year from image rights than Sanchez did as more money will be generated with DDG's image than Sanchez's

Bonuses will most likely be lower just because its easier for forwards to rack up bonuses as they will have goal bonuses and the assumption will always be that they will score a fair amount. DDG's equivalent bonus will be clean sheets which are harder to get

Well thank god Jose is gone because that would be about a million a game if he was still there lol

Quite fascinating that they do not seem to have a deal for ‘intellectual property’ for footballers!

Think it's disgraceful what these players get paid. I won £33.60 on a horse the other day and I was dancing round the kitchen.

Who needs £350,000 a week? What could anyone possibly do with that? I'd feel guilty if I was pocketing that much, especially while in a "working class" environment. Mind, I'd probably be dead within a few days if I got £350,000.

It's alot but at the same time football is something that doesn't have a long career and it can be snatched away from you by one bad tackle. And if the players don't get the money it doesn't go away, it ends up in someones pockets so it may as well be the players who then pay tax, spend the money with lots of it being locally which generates more tax and creates jobs ect ect.

The bigger problem with wages of footballers isn't really at the top end but further down where the amount they get paid isn't in proportion with what the club makes. United since the 90's have always operated on the basis that the sensible revenue to wage ration is 50% which allows them to spend a massive amount on transfers and pay one of the highest wage bills in Football but thats less than the FPP limits in say League 1 are. There is non way that say Bradford City can actually make money when they generate about £5mill in revenue a year and £3mill of that goes out on salary

so, if Ole doesn't get the job, I can see us putting a sneaky bid in for him!
