    Signed for Macclesfield Town.

Tbh, I’d completely forgotten about him, despite the hype and clamour to get him here. Always seemed disinterested. I do remember a half volley from the half way line that hit the bar against someone, and a few last minute goals. Looked a player, but looked like someone who prefers to play in the lower leagues. 34 years old now.

Yep, bags of ability but very little desire.

    Bizarrely good at shooting.

    Massively average at everything else.

That's unfair. His touch was absolutely superb and he also had the skill to beat a man and create a yard.

For me, all he lacked was work rate and attitude otherwise he's have been an excellent footballer at our current level.

My memory is pretty hazy to be fair. I don't remember anything about him other than belting long rangers lol

I will put my neck out there and say that if he had the work-rate and ambition, he could have been a Championship player.

I agree. He certainly had the technical ability.

Had an extremely useful yet rare ability to manoeuvre a shot on target from pretty much anywhere in the attacking third of the pitch. It was remarkable and I was in awe of his ability to do this - possibly the best I've seen do it in Claret & Amber in many, many a year.

Sadly, like many alluded to, most other parts of his game were below average. Not least his hunger to push himself harder.

Now left Macclesfield! Reading between the lines, l wonder if it is some form of Mental Health issue. There doesn’t appear to be any reference as to injury and he apparently played a full 90 minutes last week. Most players would see out their contracts if they were injured. All seems a little strange and very sad.

Don't think it will be confirmed and will forever be a rumour, but the belief amongst Chesterfield fans when he had a tonne of time away from the team for a private health issue was that after feeling unwell he had tests and found that he had an issue with his heart.

Could well have been an incredible lower league forward but clearly there is something with the bloke, who knows if it will ever come out into the open but hopefully the guy does what's best for his long term.

Players when they sign for a club, usually undergo a full medical. I would assume that a condition such as heart issues would be detected. I guess we are unlikely to ever know the full truth.

That half volley equaliser against bolton will be my abiding memory not just for the goal.

He had such a shot on him that I told the mrs our new striker was a 'thunder boots' and then named a new kitten after him, promptly before he left the club.

How's that for bizarre. Here's to you 'thunder boots' - his purr is worse than his bite.
