About time he realised what a lucky fella he is. "I can spend in a night what FIFA will fine Montenegro for racist chanting." I'll be glad to finish my premier league career in five or six years ( on massive wages) because I can't take this racist chanting . Non existent in British football.

Not non-existent on-line as we know from Twitter last week. Racism and xenophobia is alive and well.

It isn't Danny Rose's fault that football pays absurd money to some players.

I think he phrased it badly about the level of fines but they are low.

The should tie it into the income from the game where it happens, eg first time 50% of the gate money, then 100% etc so it hits countries depending on their ability to pay. £50k is nothing to English FA but would be huge to the Andorran FA

Didn't Derby and Wigan players have problems today?

Looks like this problem is creeping back in again.

Regarding Rose, they always pick on him, played against Spain a few years ago and had the same outburst against him.
Spain is not a backward footballing country is it.

so because he earns good money he should just accept racism as part of the terms? racism is very existent in british football as it is in british society.

It certainly hasn't gone away but has been dampened down in recent times .. and then it reappears somewhere else.

But it is a societal issue, not just one related to football or sport in general. It isn't helped by simply looking the other way or by pretending the issue isn't a real one. And I've said elsewhere, the problem certainly can't be ignored by pretending that criminal activities conducted by groups within society are better swept under the carpet for fear of being accused of racism.

Better to have the debate out in the open rather than pretend it isn't there. And I for one welcome the likes of Danny Rose putting the issue back in the spotlight.

agreed, danny rose and raheem sterling are doing a fantastic thing at the moment. as is john barnes and anyone else who steps forward to try and eradicate such a toxic thing.

re, your point on things being 'swept under the carpet'. those that want to discuss those issues (tommeh and his like) never want to discuss problems within the catholic church, never mention barry bennell or widen the discussion. they are happy to sweep that under the carpet.

There's loads of isms in this world. Why can't Sterling and Rose be lauded as the example of the fact that if you're good enough, especially in this country, then you can achieve your goals.
