looks to have found his level after being invited to training at South Shields FC who are recently promoted to the evo stick premier.
who in gods name sanctioned signing him never mind giving him a one year extension

The idea we don't have youth academy prospects better than South Shields FC is worrying. I get that most of them won't be League One players, but this is the kind of thing that makes the development squad theory a joke.

Good luck to Dan, but signing a dozen random releasees to try and bag the occasional first teamer is an inherently poor strategy; to place further hopes on actually making money on these kids is ridiculous.

Our best young player is Tyrell Robinson, and if he's worth more than £10K to any other club, I'd be stunned.

Gibson looks a better prospect to me than Robinson as an out and out winger.

Sorry, have to completely disagree with that.

Gibson has raw talent and showboat skills. He looked pretty poor on Tuesday, even with those attributes, running the ball out of play with virtually every run.

The hard fact is both players are 20 years old. Robinson made 26 appearances last season, and looked like he was up to League One standard football. Gibson didn't come close to those achievements, and if Tuesday was anything to go by, it's not hard to see why.

Flashy, yes, but literally nothing of consequence.

We will see i think Robinson is a decent enough player but nowhere near as good as some make out. Seen him struggle against quick full backs when he cant just push the ball past them. Needs serious work on his right foot as well. Only young though so i won't be too hard on him.

I agree Robinson has limitations; I just don't see how Gibson can be considered more promising, since he's literally been in Robinson's shadow.

More a long term thing. For various reasons it seems Gibson hasn’t been given a chance. Probably doesn’t help when people close to him keep blowing smoke up his arse. When a guy who has played at a pretty good level and had a successful managerial career like Grayson says you need to buck up your ideas in training i think the best thing to do is heed that advice, not ignore it.

Both are prospects but both have only one foot. Gibson has skills and tricks but even their full back realised to show him down the line where he he can’t put a cross in or shoot.
Wouldn’t it be good to have Gibson on the right, if he could go that side, and Robinson on the left.

Robinson needs to bulk up over the summer. Way too many times he’s been shoulder barged off the ball.
Needs to learn to do more than cut inside by dragging back also.
Potential is there, but as usual, he scores a few goals and we’re all thinking he’s the new Ronaldo. Like we did with Patrick.

Gibson. Dunno what to say. Released by Rangers. Only just now getting on the pitch. His manager saying he needs to do more in training. Can’t see him being a first team regular any time soon.

Robinson played more because he was played both as a natural wide man and also a wing back, difficult for Gibson with him being an out and out winger, especially with Gilliead being a perminant fixture on the right wing.

Ha! Since when have we played players in their natural positions? No excuse! :D ;)

Plus Chicksen was out so long and we did not have adequate cover, I'm not sure given less injuries he would have been such a regular starter.

Think we are being a bit harsh on both if not all 3 players (could include Patrick too). These players are 20 year olds who were brought to the club to be developed and gradually if good enough be brought into a match day squad with a cameo sub appearance. Fortunately/unfortunately for them they've possibly been needed sooner than expected and are still very raw but in both Robinson and Gibson they've taken their chances and done very well. With Pybus it hasn't happened and was a gamble which hasn't paid off, someone thought he may be good enough but when you have other players like Devine still waiting in the wings it was always going to be difficult.

I think next season if Robinson, Patrick and Gibson are coached well, learn from this season and listen to advice they will only get better - which at the end is very good for us.

Just let them play football and enjoy it, back them and watch them go.

Agree, on Tuesday he just could not get a cross in with his left foot and tried to cut in. Not a left winger at this stage and would need to do serious hours on the training field to develop that aspect of his game.

Robinson did very well put some great crosses in as well as his goals he also has electric pace. He will be our regular left winger next season

If Gillead goes back and we don't ask for another loan you could be right, IMO any natural wideman on the right will be at the expence of a wideman one the left, can't see Grayson (if it is him as our manager) playing two out and out wingers.

On Tuesday when Gibson played on the left he moved McCarten out to the right and I thought he did pretty well there

Needs to work on his movement more (TR). To often he's hugging the touchline, meaning that he gets the ball with very little room and gets knocked into touch. Would love to see him cut inside BEFORE he got the ball, and then the full back, midfielder whatever, can play it over the top of their right back, and he can get onto the ball moving forward into space.
It will come in time I hope.

Personally think Robinson could the new Nahki and be a good foil for the main striker.
