Until we cut what is wrong out of the club it will not start to recover, Edin aside who takes the lions share of the blame but will take some shifting but there are other options, We need to cut what is wrong out of the club and that starts with Abbott who since he has been here has done nothing but make bad decisions over players and brought some of the worst players I have seen to the club, Drury needs to be replaced as soon as possible, He is basically a non league coach let go by non league clubs previously and we can and must do much much better,
These are hard decisions affecting peoples livelihood but the club must come first and unless we draw out what is part of the problem out we will not improve,
Hopkin is not quite to blame as he is working with other peoples failure but he to needs to go back to basics and also insist on better coaches than the amateur ones we have now

If and it's a very big if that Rahic sacks the backroom staff and lets DH fetch his own team in than i see a little hope . Rahic is surrounded by his yes men who boost his already inflated ego . I honestly fear though that the rot has set in too far this year to stave off relegation , then god knows what will happen next year .

Get rid of the backrrom boys now. Get Hopkin some help with people he knows. Centre half, target man and maybe a reet hard midfielder. Winger possibly unless Scanell wakes up?

I agree that Abbott & Drury et.al, the 'yes men' as you put it are definitely not helping the situation and what Edin needs are people around him who will say 'yes, that's a good idea', when it is, and 'no, that's not going to work and here's why' when it's a disastrous idea. Only problem with that is I think we had such people (Mason being one of them), but Edin wouldn't listen to them then and there is nothing to suggest if we had people around him like that again, that he would listen to them now.

There's only one thing that's going to save us, 3 or 4 good players (at league 1 level) brought in. Central defence is woeful, up top no hold up player, we need a good midfield general. It will cost money. If they aren't prepared to fund that, say goodbye to league 1.

Abbott and Drury need to go.
Hopkin brings in his own team.

magic a couple of capable OOC players somehow, and bring about 7 new players in in January.

oh and Edin putting the club up for sale and moving back to Germany full time might help. not having him around the club and the training ground pissing everyone off.

I'm resigned to the fact we're going down this season, whatever happens now ownership & management wise it's pretty much inevitable. If that's what it takes to drive Rahic out of the club I'm prepared to accept it. How the F did it ever get to this?

I for 1 am not going to stand idly by whilst the club is destroyed , 53 years i've been going through thick and thin , never ever have i felt the toxic atmosphere than of late . The get Rahic out protest must hit the ground running , support the manager / players yes , but drive the board Abbott and drury away .

I do have some sympathy for the likes of Greg Abbott; I am also a long time member of the Supporters' Trust, whose current appeasement stance disappoints me to say the least, but, if you don't speak out about a problem, then you risk becoming part of the problem.

In the battleground of League 1, if military triage rules were applied, the medic would take a look at us and say...

'Dose of morphine and move on. He's f*cked'.

There is no quick fix. We're going down, no doubt whatsoever., Nothing is going to stop it. Even the sale of the club before January and the manifestation of a bland cheque wouldn't be enough. No quick fix.

We're back to where we were in ~2010. A broken club, all ends up. It needs a re-build from the top down, the rein-statement of proper standards and behaviours, the right people in the right roles. A complete overhaul of the playing staff. Even done well, it'll be a minimum of 2-3 years before anything like good times are back. And I think relegation out of the football league could be more likely than a recovery and return to League 1.

I honestly don’t think we will survive in the National League, we would lose the ground and that is just the start, unable to train at our current ground, we would literally be a shadow of our former self.

We have a weak manager who will not act decisively and has not devised a plan of survival and stuck with it, He has continued with amateur coaches who have no idea of sports science and conditioning the players which results in injury after injury and players taking longer to get back to fitness, Abbott is displaying the same talents that nearly destroyed Carlisle before the sacked him, We are a complete shambles with ER at the helm who cannot or refuses to see what is needed, Hopkin needs to spend the weekend talking to his friends in football and get a new backroom staff in as soon as possible, He should sack Drury and Abbott on Monday morning and bring the youth team coach in until the new coaching team can be appointed, Drill the team to defend, keep it simple with 4-4-2 or 4-3-3 then stick to it, It is the only way.
Relegated teams usually have one thing in common in that the manager continually changes players and formations trying to find that winning combination that will never appear with constant changes usually using 30 players or more in the attempt, He needs to restart and build players confidence on the training pitch, stick to a plan and results may come

Carlisle haven't finished as high, since he left.
Carlisle haven't been to Wembley since he got them there twice.

    Let's not rewrite history.

Hmmm....or is there something going on in the background? Rupp can't be happy with the way his investment is going. Rahic is 'in Germany' - who knows when or if he is coming back, and Rupp is making statements to the press and the fans supporting Hopkin. Is Rahic being sidelined or (hopefully) removed? Just speculation but my gut tells me there's more going on.

    Lets not Eh?
    From his Wiki,
In July 2006, he joined Carlisle United as assistant manager to Neil McDonald.[21] When McDonald was sacked by Carlisle on 13 August 2007, Abbott was appointed as caretaker manager.[22] He won five of his ten games in charge to guide Carlisle to fourth position,[23][24] before Carlisle appointed Cheltenham Town manager John Ward as their new boss in October;[25] Abbott returned to his original assistant manager role with the club and signed a new two-year contract.[26] The pair led Carlisle to the League One play-offs where they were defeated by Leeds United in the semi-finals.[27]

When Ward left the club after 13 months in charge following a run of nine defeats in ten games, which left the club in 20th place, Abbott was once again appointed caretaker manager.[28] Abbott's first game as caretaker was an FA Cup game with Conference National-side Grays Athletic, in which they were only six minutes from being knocked out, before a late equaliser avoided an upset to force a replay.[29] He won three games while in caretaker charge and was appointed the club's permanent manager on 5 December 2008 on an 18-month contract.[30] After a poor start to the 2013–14 season Abbott was sacked on 9 September 2013.[31]

It’s half term and his kids’ school. My guess he will be in Germany until next weekend for when their school restarts on the 5th. If he’s not back then then we can start to read something into it. I don’t expect him to have a visible profile at too many games though. He’ll stay away or stay hidden inside or behind security.

Every Manager get's sacked! You are correct he was sacked. Let's not rewrite history though.

'He nearly desroyed' them. Did he f$ck.

They had a great time under him. They've not had it as good since. He's there version of Parky.

I wonder if Plymouth fans were saying the same this time last year..? Or Barnsley Supporters a couple of seasons earlier? We are absolutely wank and Rahic/Abbott got us into this mess. Both need to go.

But I refuse to accept that, with 2/3rds if the season still to go, we are already down. We do have some capable players and others that are currently injured. If Hopkin can bring in a no-nonsense centre half and an accomplished targetman, we can limp through to Christmas. If Rupp is serious that funds will be made available and Hopkin will be in charge of that budget, then I still believe he can get us out of this shit
