He shouldn't have said those things but the context is important. If the Muslim players in the group were playing along and giving banter back then its a whole different scenario when it comes to whether he is racist or not. Regardless of whether there was intent to offend Mr Yems is an idiot at best and needs to be made an example of.

Ive said stuff at work years ago stereotyping over cuisines......basically a retort to Asians telling me 'our' food is shit and I stank of Fish & Chips. All light hearted good fun until someone takes offence and blows a whistle.

15 months seems harsh to me for what was essentially deemed to be words that some took offence to. The investigation concluded he isn't racist and there wasn't malicious intent involved - not that this excuses it, of course he shouldn't be using such words, phrases etc whether it be 'banter' or not but let's put it into context nobody was discriminated against in terms of being dropped because of their background or skin colour for example.

To put it into context, Cantona was banned for 6 months for booting a spectator in the head with metal studded boots.

Does this really warrant a 150% increase on that ban?

 

I'm not going to gloat. It sounds like things are going badly and it's sad for football. I feel sorry for their fans. It could have been us.
