Coventry City have been given a final warning by the English Football League to decide where the club will stage home matches next season.

Coventry's current agreement at the Ricoh Arena runs out at the end of the season and they have until March 5 to detail their plans for the future to the EFL and failure to do so could result in their expulsion from the football league.

The crux of the matter is that Coventry City's owners, Sisu, aggressively take anyone and everyone, that gets in their way, to court. Not surprisingly, they keep losing these court cases, but this still doesn't seem to put them off.

The Ricoh Stadium's owners, Wasps, refuse to negotiate any new deal, with Coventry City, until Sisu promise to drop the current legal actions they are pursuing.

This seems to be a bit like the Brexit negotiations, a case of who is going to blink first. If neither Sisu or Wasps back down, then that will leave Coventry City scrambling around looking for a new ground share arrangement elsewhere.

I thought that Sisu had already negotiated a new lease agreement with the stadium owners significantly less than the £1m they had originally agreed to. What's the current issue between Sisu and Wasps?

Sisu have acted as real ar$eholes throughout this entire sage even before Wasps bought the Ricoh!

Just for clarification, the freehold of the Ricoh Arena is held by Coventry City Council. However, Wasps purchased a 250 year lease on the Arena, which in every practical sense, means they 'own' the facilities.

Last year Wasps (somewhat reluctantly) agreed a one year extension to Coventry City's short term lease, which runs out at the end of this season. At the time they made it clear they would not agree any further extensions / lease agreements until Sisu ceased their legal actions. Wasps have reaffirmed that position today.

Do you know the nature of the legal action being taken by Sisu? Is it against Sisu or ACL or Coventry Council?

It does sound like it's a matter of who blinks first!

Sisu are going after just about anyone who ha anything to do with the Arena. This includes the Council and Wasps.

That sounds like a good strategy! Meanwhile it appears at face value that Coventry are being hung out to dry.

The EFL have now started a consultation with Coventry fans on a ground share arrangement up to 50 miles from Coventry, as an alternative to expulsion from the League.

50 miles is a long way. It would be like us playing at Wigan for home games.

It sounds as if they have somewhere lined up if they are asking about such a distance

A lot of Coventry fans are thinking the same thing it seems and Milton Keynes is being mentioned as a possibility.

It seems the powers that be are telling Coventry fans that whilst they believe it would be better to remain, if they have to leave, it will be far better to leave with a deal rather than without one. Sound familiar?

The discussion is only about distances "upto" 50 miles though, not that it actually IS 50 miles.

But why 50 if they haven’t something planned around that distance. The usual distance is 6miles, so that is a massive jump to 50 miles

Why is the usual distance 6 miles? Is there some kind of charter somewhere or is that a figure plucked from a report?

It is what they were told when they were moving from Coventry before and then went back. Under 6 miles isn’t classed as change if City. If a club plans on moving City it needs FL permission

Makes sense I suppose. Makes you wonder if they have indeed got somewhere in mind then.

Just read through the rules and it doesn’t state 6 miles but gives the league options to put any criteria they want around not moving from where the name is based or the club have been based.
