    The train from Huddersfield goes into Manchester Piccadilly rather than Victoria. It's about a ten minute walk from there until the centre.

    The Northern Quarter area (look up Stevenson Square) is good if you want quirky shops, expensive coffee etc. If you like curry, then I would suggest going to This n That for a 'rice and three:. Proper Manchester institution.

    If you fancy a bit of culture then I would wander down to the Manchester Art Gallery. From there you can have a look in the Central Library, which is a pretty impressive building and then go down to Home for coffee/art exhibitions.

    I can also recommend a pub or two if needed.
