Think he's had a few injuries. Sunderland fans think he's a cracking signing for us if he keeps fit.all had nothing but good things to say about him so cud be a very good signing. The key been if he can stay fit.

Funny, because the ones I know from the black cats say he's crocked, will not get through 90mins and his legs have gone. Funny fans aren't they!

Quality not quantity really gone out the window since the summer. Our squad must be at a similar size to when GA came in and said the squad was too big.

Baffling that we let established players like Gillead, Stubbs and to a lesser extent McDonald leave to then have to scramble for over the hill, crocked free transfers to plug the gaps they left.

We have a problem at the club keeping players fit never mind signing further ones who are likely to be high maintenance. Surely there were other younger and fitter players we could have looked at and signed - it appears to be who will cost us the least like the summer recruitment.

Why bother putting the effort in to identify them when you can just ask the players that are already here if they have any mates that aren't up to much at the moment and fancy a bit of a kick about.

I've learnt never count out an Evans. When United signed Johnny again it looked Crazy but he has played way more matches than anyone thought he would in the last 2 seasons and has only had one bad game. I would argue he is perhaps ETH's best signing

People are quick to criticise but we can't really lose out on this deal. If he's not up to it we haven't lost anything. If he's got something to offer, he could repay our faith in him with a contract.

I can't remember if it was Alexander's & Huntington's interview on Radio Leeds last night but they were talking about how once a players age starts with 3 that is what gets focused on. Footballers are fitter now than they have ever been so we'll see more players playing until their late 30s with no problem. Jamie Vardy has been written off yet he's still doing well at 37, Andy Cook is having his best years of his career in his 30s. If you asked people who are the best CMs this club has had in the last 25 year a lot would say McCall and Jones, both were in their mid 30s.

Does Evans have a history of ever playing in the deeper ‘Smallwood’ role? If yes, then it’s even more a smart signing.

On paper, I like the signing and has as much chance of been a success than anything else. If the recent injuries and subsequent young/inexperienced CB replacement taught us, there’s significantly more risk in not having experienced replacements in key positions. I’m looking forward to seeing him play….

If he can obviously prove his fitness we have a really good player on our hands.

Age isn't an issue for me, he is only a few months older than Andy Cook.

Be interesting to see how he does and whether he can eventually force himself into the starting line-up. In the meantime , he could be invaluable coming off the bench to see out games.

He is obviously a fighter coming back from the ACL injury and fractured skull earlier in his career.

Its a generalisation but based on a fair bit of fact. By the age of 30 most players have a lot of miles on the clock and its a game where clubs are more and more looking at players with a more long term outlook, both in terms of potential resale and wear and tear and that means looking at the younger end of the market. Thats not to say the older players can't do a job, we ourselves have had examples of that kind of player being a success. But for every Jamie Vardy there are dozens whose decline for various reasons sees them out of the playing game by their mid 30s. Just the general nature of physical sports.

It's 100% a miles on the clock thing. Age is just a number, if you can do it, you can do it.

Around Evans, it's just the fact that he is coming back from a very serious injury, but he had the bad injury at 33. It's a tough slog getting back up to fitness at this stage in his career. But back to the "miles on the clock" thing, Evans has had that many injuries/issues over the last few seasons, he has barely been a "starter" in his career. Just twice since 14/15 season has he started over 30 games in a season in all comps, the most recent was 22/23 when he started 26 league games for Sunderland, which is the only time he's started over 20 games a season in 5 years. I don't think any fan thinks he cant do it anymore, it's just if he's fit enough to show it.
