Agree CW & LOB are the only kind of positive we can draw on. No doubt both will have aspirations of playing higher but of course we're heading in a different direction and unfortunately it won't be with us!

 

Agree, a good player. Doesn't shirk challenges, gets forward well and got good pace.

Hope he doesn't get dropped for Chicksen.

 

He and Lewis were bloody good today, committed and no little skill on show

 

Totally agree really like what I've seen from him, thankfully he's on a 3 year deal so at least we'll get some cash for him.

It'll be criminal if he gets dropped or forced to play out of position to accommodate Chicksen again.

 

I'd like to see him play at a good League One side before considering him a Championship player.

Doubt we will get much of a fee for a left back ever, such is the fundamental flaw in the master plan, but hope he progresses while the club regressed.

 

Well it's the same as selling anything.... he's only worth as much as someone is willing to pay for him. The same as a house business or anything.

If someone is desperate for a left back, they may see potential and pay slightly over the odds. If a club is looking a a prospective left back to bring through, the value changes. All depends on the market your selling to.

The above is why we had our pants pulled down by nahki only wanting to go to the dogs.

 

You're right, of course.

Conor Townsend and Morgan Fox earned good fees - but it's a long shot, as often clubs are prepared to let contracts run down as full backs/defensive-minded players aren't seen as quite so vital quite as often as goalscorers, creative midfielders, pacy wingers etc.

I think maybe two full backs a year leave League One clubs for money.

PERHAPS someone would pay good money for Conor Wood, but not while we're bottom, and not while Wood isn't really influencing our performances - and certainly not whilst we're in League Two.

But we had a player as good as Meredith at our club, even while successful in League One and Two, and nary a six figure offer was mentioned.

It's a little bit fantastical to expect a Conor Wood or Joe Riley to attract interest serious enough to reward us with six figures. Even if they're solid players, solid isn't saleable.

Just my opinion, but Rahic was stupidly naive to expect a conveyor belt of remodelled talent to earn the club good money. I would happily turn back the clock and not sign ANY of our young players, despite those who show promise. Men over boys EVERY time, unless you somehow sign a freak unit of lads ready to take over like the incredibly rare and random history makers.

He did well yesterday, more so when you consider he played the first half in one of the worst and most difficult parts of the pitch (same for McGowen). Probably spurred him to get forward more.

He’s young but still makes better decisions that some of the more experienced, which is a good sign. There was a moment yesterday where he was on the left just in their area, he crossed it but probably should have drilled it, to which Doyle gave him a right earful (ironic since Doyle had missed the sitter a few minutes earlier). The point been he’s not the finished article by a long way, and probably not influencing games as much as we know a good full back (eg. Meredith) however he’s certainly on the right track and one of the positive lights we can take from recent weeks.

He reminds a little of Lewis Emmanuel in his physique and style of them. Hopefully Conner will develop further.

Hopkin dropped him last week for Chicksen.

Wood only played yesterday because Chicksen was suspended.

 

Decent player, and because of his age, seems to be among the few who haven't let their heads drop. I guess he's not experienced enough yet to know what a "bad patch" is, unlike our other more seasoned players, who are all having a shockers.

If Hopkin feels Wood needs a breather as he's only young then young O'Brien is getting a rest soon?

Don't think Bradford City are in the position to drop Wood or O'Brien at the minute.

 

One of the few positives from this season. Bad move to drop him for Chicksen, Wood should be our first choice LB now as he can defend which sounds stupid but that's his job firstly and he does it very well. Looks a good prospect for the future.
