Connolly certainly got excited with his celebrations for the pens v Mansfield. Nice to see.

He runs about like a bit of a headless chicken at times but I like him. He causes destruction when he's in full flight.

His pace is certainly deceiving, unfortunately over the years we have seen these type of players with pace to burn but let themselves down with their final ball, but there is no doubt opposition full backs know they've a game on their hands trying to stop him.

Memory seems to tell me Isaiah Rankin was blistering pace and little else.

I remember being TOLD he was super fast.

I remember not really noting his super speed.

Connolly, meanwhile, hits full flight virtually every game

Might be misremembering Rankin, to be fair.

Not to sound pedantic here but I think you’ll find he won one penalty. It was Palmer who was awarded the first penalty, assisted by Connolly

As many others say, his end product is poor and he folds like a deckchair if an opponent goes into him. I’d like him a lot more if he occasionally had a shot at goal rather than trying to lay it off for a teammate

All that said, he’s still a cracking player for league 2 and I’m glad he’s playing for us rather than against us

He tried a shot from outside the area in full flight at Carlisle - it genuinely looked like a pass back.

I'd love to see him shoot more, but perhaps he's just a feeble finisher?

There's no doubting Connolly's pace but you can see why Wimbledon aren't wanting him as his final pass or decision making is hit and miss at best although it can be learnt you would hope there would have been a more noticeable improvement over the first half of the season which for me there hasn't. One thing that i have noticed is that he is clever and obviously been spending time with Vaughan learning how to win fouls, whilst it's not the most ethical thing it's in the game now so you either need to learn it or get left behind. That added to his pace is what makes him a big asset in this league but not sure how much further he can go.

If I remember correctly, he had no teeth and couldn't stop a fat pig in a ginnel, but very fast.

Perhaps Connollys pace stands out more at this level because there's more carthorse type centre backs.

In the Premier League every defender seemed to have at least a decent 6 yard burst in them and if not certainly had a better reading of the game to negate an opponent's pace.
