With Mcall and Rhodes at the helm we will lose the next 2 league games and scrape a 0-0 draw with the shelf stackers. let’s face it 22nd place in the League is a good season with what we have Rupp is an absolute Joke of a Chairman - who Employs a Joke CEO - who Employs a Joke Ex girlfriend manager.
No wonder we are where we are. Clubs a Joke at the moment, and the problem is, people are losing interest and finding other things to do - tough times ahead I’m afraid.

Two big games for sure and its an indictment that we're at this point so early in a season. Its been really poor.

I remember similar discussions at this early stage during the Taylor season. I don't believe McCall is the man to turn things around.

 

I wonder what effect Stuart's post match comments will have had on the players. If I was one of the senior players hearing my manager saying we were never going to be a top three side, I would be seriously p!ssed off. This is league 2, he's basically saying that as professional footballers, his players are not good enough to get out of the basement division. Never mind confidence, what about attitude? Isn't there a danger some of them will just decide they can't be arsed?

I think also we cant have it both ways Petrov - people have been crying out for Stuart to give the players some home truths and get stuck into them a bit.
I would be very surprised if the bulk of the players didnt accept they are an incomplete mix of old pros and up and coming youngsters and perhaps 'taking the heat off' expectation wise aint such a bad thing. I am not saying that we should not be aiming for the play offs at least though, without goals the whole thing becomes futile (even in Covid times)

 

I'm all for him getting stuck into the players when their performances are not good enough, but publicly stating his team are never going to be good enough for a top 3 finish is not the way to go about it. It also raises further serious questions about his recruitment - he said repeatedly throughout the window that he was happy with his squad and the signings he had made. He's now saying they were never going to be good enough for top 3 - so if he knows that, why the hell did he sign them?

 

Reading between the lines I would guess Stuart has now realised the realistic quality of his squad. Stuart has said a lot of things since June which a lot of us have questioned as to what is really going on - his dealings with the press have not helped. I think back to the Stuart/Ryan PR night and so much talk then has not come to fruition - it wouldnt surprise me if the goalposts above Stuart have also been moved a few times since that night.
I am sure in his own mind he thought he could get 'a rise' out of the players he had and those he has added but we are far from the 'finished jigsaw' analogy he made when Samuels was signed - I would rather him realise that now whilst the season is still in its relative infancy

 

I really love Barrow being back in the proper leagues. It's one of those outposts that really needs a professional club, for the very pride of the town. Having said that, hope we beat the bejazzus out of them tomorrow.

Don't agree. Barrow is bloody miles from anywhere and has a population of what, 60-70,000 people? A successful football club is really important to a small town that feels like it's often an overlooked outpost. If you read the local Barrow media a bit, you might get an idea of how important it's been for the town to get em back into the league. Bradford is one of the biggest cities in Britain and cheek by jowl with many other major population centres, always in the news for many other things (good and bad). So no comparison.

 

Football wise I believe their claim to fame is the late Emlyn Hughes was from Barrow.

The performances are as important as the results IMO. We need some wins and we need to achieve them with solid performances to back them up. A 4-3 type of result makes me shiver at the thought of us scraping through after another inept defensive display. Also based on the last three games i don’t see where 4 goals come from!

What I would do for 3 x 2-0 wins and solid ‘no frills’ performances behind them to restore some confidence solidity to the team.

I’m not sure if he’s played there much but I’d be interested to see Sutton play as a holding CM in front of the back 3 and providing cover for the wing backs. With better finishing Bolton could have easily had 2-3 in the second half catching us on the break. Lots of attacking possession with no goals with a vulnerability of been caught on the break isn’t a recipe for success!

 

What are we thinking about this inevitable lockdown looming? It feels like it's not going to be total lockdown like last time and we may be able to carry on with the season as normal. I know my colleague in Wales has been able to carry on working as normal (surveying).
