Good for them, I think Doyle has done well this season, but why the he'll do some people feel the need to make a public announcement regarding their most private matters?

 

Because sometimes it helps them carry on. I did it five years ago tonight when I was at my lowest and since then have gone from strength to strength

 

Your right, we are all different and I wasn't being critical of his wife or dismissing of her situation. My point is simply this, her nearest and dearest will (I hope) already be on board and fully aware of her situation. They are the ones who will be able to help. Announcing it to Joe public has no value in my opinion.

 

Sure that she has all the support she needs, this is her supporting her husband and letting people know how strong he’s been. Well done Colin Doyle, doesn’t sound like life has been easy recently so thank you for your commitment this season

many, many people throughout all walks of life endure or support others enduring some terrible situations, some, though not all, choose to do it anonymously.
Most of them are not professional footballers, just everyday folks trying to cope with a situation they would rather not have to. However, they do not feel it necessary to announce what they are dealing with publicly. I prefer this. That is all.

He throws one in the net, he gets hammered in public by he public. When his wife is clearly busting with him, why shouldn't he have that accolade in public. It's what Twitter is for.

Totally with you. I was a fierce critic of Colin's in the early season, he did make some bread and butter goalkeeping look very difficult at times.

However his 2nd half of the season (ironically as most players performances dropped of course) was much improved in respect of him doing the basics well. I think he has been one of the better players from an attitude and leadership point of view too.

I would be happy for him to be here next season and start as no 1 but we need some quality on the bench to push him and keep him on his toes and for if he has a dip in form.
