Just to try and ease my mind, weren't we at a similar situation when Jewell took over, wasn't it 7 points from 10. I know other things are different, but lets try and look just at the positive, if there is one

Sorry buddy but it’s totally different.

We didn’t have Edin Rahic back then. The damage this man has done will be felt for quite some time now.

We won’t be looking at promotion towards the end of this season.

But I’m still positive Hopkin will survive us from relegation.

Jewell took over from Kamara in January 1998, I think we had about 33 points then. So sorry, but the answer is no, you are wrong.

I think you will need a bale!

We actually had a decent midfield back then with tough tackling mccall playmaker whalley and not forgetting the pace of Lawerence and skillful beags on the wings we don't have any of that.

It was 14 points after 10 games in 1998.

My recollection is that it was the Crewe game when Jewell kept the squad on the pitch at half time, as the team had lost 3 and drawn 1 at that stage. They went onto lose at Crewe, but the season then turned round.

Much earlier in the season and far fewer games than we have played so far.

We were also 10 points from 10 matches three years ago and ended up comfortably in the play-offs - off course we were better off than now, but I seem to remember descriptions far more negative than now about our footie when we were 'wowing' them at Colchester when we lost 2-0. And we certainly did not have as many injuries

The anti Happy Clapper brigade, will be all over this comment. Bring on the popcorn

Before the memorable Sunday win at West Brom, virtually 20 years to that day - I'd be amazed if the boards then wouldn't have been similar to what they are now

Jewell was getting crucified, not least because no-one believed he should have survived after that 5-0 defeat at Crewe at the back end of the season before - I'd argue Jacko's summer 2011 tenure got more support!!

It always amuses me at how reasonable fans are in retrospect, I remember myself and Park getting even more abuse when we defended the apparently "useless Parky" after that winless January 2012  (as an aside do we ever win in January??!!)

So the Lawn and Rhodes mid-Winter 2009 to September 2011 farcical running of the club and dodgy appointments, actually ended up with us having several great years - but when Rahic perhaps does the same, we're doomed forever?

Why should this so called "damage this man has done will be felt for quite some time now" when virtually none of the team have dealt with him before this season and it never did a side like Cardiff much harm, when Vincent Tan's actions up to two years ago, made Rahic look like a choir boy?

Jacko appointment was a joke a bit like Collins I called it back then. As for Jewell the difference is those players were good enough (unlike some of those we have now) the performances were there just the results didn't go our way at the start. Barring Crewe the season before where we did get mauled 5-0 none of those players were jaggers but kamaras. Can you honestly see us doing a Barnsley of 2 years ago or even a plymouth last season not a chance with this squad.

I see no reason why we couldn't do a Plymouth. Did you actually see that team who best us 1-0? (which actually started that run). Did you think - that was a play-off contender team or relegation fodder?

I would not bet us on getting in the Top 8 - but I'm not going to be so certain of it not happening when there are more than 100 points still available

The 0-5 was definitely a Saturday near the end of the 97/98 season, the 98/99 was early season 1-2 defeat on a Friday night (can’t remember why but I do remember being stuck on the M6 with the clock ticking)

Neither of the two chairmans you mentioned tried to implement this German buying and selling model that Rahic is still keen on implementing

I knew we played them at Crewe on a night game but thought it was the 5-0 drubbing I know Glen little scored a hat trick for them as I got a ribbing from my mates who are Burnley fans where he was a firm favourite.

We also had Phil Parkinson as manager who the board and fans trusted because of his previous seasons of season on season improvement, massive difference.
