First thought I am happy but he will need pace around him.

The club needed a statement signing like this though. We're big fish in this league.

Extremely sensible to only offer him a year contract at this moment.

Well done Bradford City on this.

Not even if they are long term youth contracts?

Devine isn’t shite. For a young player, he’s probably only slightly behind where he should be for a kid of his age. When he got into McCall’s side, he looked a prospect but for one reason or another, he hasn’t progressed enough since.

It was only a season or 2 ago, where many were saying he’d do well dropping down a division and getting some games to aide his development with us. Now he’s going to be at that level anyway. If he can show the promise he had, he can win a place in a L2 midfield.

As for Patrick, I agree with you. He was signed as a player we thought we could nurture. He scored a couple of goals and suddenly that youth contract was ripped up and replaced with a 3yr deal. From then, he was no longer a player developing- he was expected to deliver immediate results and the pressure was on him. So much for ‘developing’ the players...!

Yes, you’re partly right, Mcburnie made his Scotland u19 debut whilst at City and went on to play 4 times before his transfer. It was whilst at Swansea that he moved up to the u21s

Clayton should be very effective at this level and his hometown club might be the motivation he needs again. Bolton certainly didn’t see the best of him. Can’t be easy getting motivated to play when players aren’t getting paid etc

35 year old Donaldson would not get my juices flowing.

25 year old Donaldson would have got my juices flowing.

Clayton Donaldson even at 35 would be a good signing. experience . Ability holds the ball up well at this level he could do a similar job to Jon Stead

Agree, not sure a 2 year deal for a 35 year old would be good business when you sign a 25 year old and only give them a 1 year deal.

Yeah I'd agree with that. Unless its a lower weekly salary in lieu of a 2 year deal....

I think he'd be a good signing. Not as good as 2-3 years ago obviously, but he's a very experienced and strong forward. I could see him chipping in with 10-15 goals and importantly, he could make a massive difference to Doyle's game.

Good shout. He came at a similar age and after a similar spell in the championship - i.e. back end of his career, goals had dried up, legs 'gone' but used his nous to show real value in a lower league.

Macedonian International Striker. (Nil goals, or assists.)
Has played 345 Lge games and 67 goals to his credit, with 78 assists, over 22 years.
By day he is a goat herder, and his wife milks those goats.
Both are essential to the Macedonian economy ;).

As it appears it is Donaldson I think he brings the experience we need and possible leadership we have been talking about. I know people will rightly bring his age up but we have young legs elsewhere

It would be even better if we could swap an O'Connor for an O'Connor.

    Very happy with this signing.

I know we’ve signed a lot but we need a lot more. Hopefully 7 more in my opinion.

    1 cb perm-hopefully to replace o’conner
    1 cb loan-hopefully paudie
    1 cm perm-leader sort/ball winner
    1cm loan-creative sort/ball player
    1 striker perm-likely Cullen
1 striker loan-a grafter channel runner sort

    I'd expect:

    Paulie O'C
If A O'C leaves, another experienced CB
    A ball winner
If Akpan leaves, a creative sort, maybe Butterfield coming back
    A left winger
If Scanell leaves, another will get
A striker in addition to Donaldson.

Think that might be it. Maybe a loan or two.
