    I don't know what the current contribution is, but, as part of the Elite Player Performance Plan (EPPP), the Premier League contribution to City, for having a Category 3 Academy, was £1,335,000 for the 3 seasons from 2019 to 2022 (I believe this would have been over £2 million had we had a Category 2 Academy).

    Where's that from? At that level, those payments are almost what the PL pays every League 2 club as a Solidarity Payment! The agreement as part of the EPPP negotiations was £50k a season for a club with a Cat 3 Academy. There are some additional funds for those clubs who want to go from Cat 3 to Cat 2 as a one-off contribution to some of the development costs.

    Thanks for that. It's a real eye-opener! The contribution to the Academy isn't far short of what the club receives as its solidarity payment. I struggle therefore to understand why our Academy isn't making significant profits since at that level the costs of running the academy are about 80% covered by the PL contribution.

    It does bronco I can only remember mclair and Keane who was subbed i think and all the young uns who went on to win the league. I thought at the time they were playing second or third string how wrong was I? Stood on the kop that game with my nephew on my shoulders

    That is where I was stood with my daughter! We were talking about it last night. We were to the left of the goal towards the Midland Road side. A great night, if a defeat.
