The other thing that was missing last night was leadership on the field. I just cannot get my head around having the goalkeeper as team captain. How on earth can he instil any leadership on the field? Ok, have him as club captain doing the leadership in the dressing room/on the training ground etc. but on the field of play when it is all happening around the outfield players no way. No one was taking charge/ giving any orders last night. everyone was just left to get on with what they were doing even though as Stuart later said the majority of the time what they were doing was wrong/not good enough.

Still reeling from the standard of our play.

    French just blasting aimless balls.

Clarke, Sutton unable to control the ball under pressure.

Evans-not a left sided player-so lets play him left side.

    O'Donnell distribution shocking.

Novak and Donaldson wouldn't scare a sunday league team.

That performance has definitely opened a few eyes to how we set up and how we react to a high press. We don't is the answer.

The management team need to look at last night and learn from it asap or else we are in for a long hard season.

Stead's hold up play is better than Novak and Donaldson's combined.

Starts at the top mate. Rupp, Rhodes, Ryan, McCall.

I honestly don't know how we are playing in what shape. It's like we have just grouped a bunch of players together.

No direction for this club at all.

They look like a team who all know what their roles are. We look like a bunch of strangers.
Not playing a match for 18 days didn't help but that's not enough of an excuse.

Agenda? Are you taking the piss? The mind honestly boggles. It's pointless even discussing it with you tbh. On a day where weve lost at home to Harrogate Town, where they've had more than 3 times the attempts at goal on and off target, and you think someone who's 'negative', 'needs help' me. I can never get my head around the contingent of our fanbase who have no expectation or ambition whatsoever. I suppose we get what we deserve in that sense. Keep clapping though - give it 3 or 4 years and when Liversidge FC are beating us you can keep taking the high ground.

I also think its lazy to just throw comments around like 'you need help'. Its a poor position to take and of it's intended to try and be elitist, I think its more likely to make you look daft after a game like tonight's

Mid table is optimistic on that showing mate. I still cannot believe how poor we were from the first to the last minute.

Fair play to Harrogate though thoroughly deserved the victory,

Don't flatter yourself flower, I am calm. But your posts are barely worth reading once, let alone twice. I'm not denying any of my posts, I'm saying that my 'negative' posts are based on reality and that reality has been laid bare once again tonight. And I'm saying that your cheap assertions undermine any point you think you're trying to make. In fact I'd go a step further- I'd expect your just as pissed off as most City fans tonight but rather than concede that those who've been critical about how we're run might actually have a point, you've decided to be snide instead. I wish I had your ignorance to our state of affairs to be honest.

I’m not sure there are too many positives to take out of that performance, the Lincoln game, the recruitment over the summer or the general direction of the club. I’d say there is an equal chance of the Conference than League One in the next five years if things don’t change.

Woeful performance and an embarrasing result. Being outplayed at home to a side who were still playing park football a few years ago when we were on the verge of the championship.

But I'm more concerned at the 'tactics' tonight. Stuart went to watch Harrogate last week and thought a diamond was the best system to play against them with? Sorry but he's lost the plot. It was clear from the first minute that they had us by the balls out wide and in the centre of the park. Their skipper Falkingham won every second ball and we were nowhere near. They pressed us high and we resorted to booting it long to two strikers who can't hold the ball up or win flick ons. Meanwhile we have a lad with a bit of pace sat on the bench for an hour whilst we expect Donaldson to chase balls over the top. Then when he does come on, our top scorer and centre forward is moved into a number ten role. The same thing Bowyer was slated for doing to Doyle.

We're a club allergic to scoring goals, no pace, no movement, no width and no creativity. If Stuart really thinks we're done in this window then we're in trouble.

let's remember.. nobody else was even allowed time to apply for the job, let alone have an interview and put their ideas forward for how we progress as a club.

There is still a fundamantal problem with this squad. And that is a lack of pace and quick movement throughout the squad. Neither of those can be easily remedied and that has to be laid at SMc's door. It's his squad and he has done much of the recruitment without addressing those shortcomings. It's right that fingers are being pointed at SMc.

Is that really what he said? Who prepared them to give a 5/10 performance and who decided to play a diamond formation with no pace against a team which presses their opposition continually? Ah, yes!

I got the impression Wood was targeted last night to curtail his attacking play and we played into their hands. Evans was playing in a narrow midfield because of the diamond and left too much space in front of Wood which Thomson and particularly Fallowfield exploited really well. We didn't respond to that until much later in the game.

    The bookies make Harrogate favourites.

A home League game against Harrogate, and we're the underdogs.

    Deary me.
