    Totally agree faithful. He'd definitely win a few fans back over by just admitting he's tinkering until he gets a formation that is good for us, but instead would rather make excuses that just infuriate the fans even more

    It can only be 1 of 2 things (or both):

    1. GB knows what the fans are demanding but is of the "i'm the gaffer and I make the decisions" mentality. In other words, a stubborn bastard who would rather cut off his nose to spite his face
    2. He is tactically inept, and is simply out of his depth, even in L2

    I'm sick to death of people glossing over it, saying he'll come good, its early days, and he once took Blackpool up a league. Wake up apologists, all i'm interested in is how he performs for us, which so far has been far from impressive

    not winning this game in 90 minutes, comfortably, is a disgrace to be honest.

    and the occasion got to the players? if thats the case we won't win another home league game all season.

    Good post 1976, to be honest we were on a hiding to nothing last night. I agree GB is not helping himself with some of his comments but I think it might just be who he is and he might be a bit of a fruitcake! Lets be honest you only have to look at the wide range of criticisms on here to realise whatever he says he cant possibly appease everyone.
    Someone on here said the players were embarrassing by over celebrating the penalty shoot-out win, seriously there are times when they just cant win. Bolton were up for it last night (kids or not), the fans were boisterous because of what has happened at their club - I think footballers should celebrate ANY win, if they just slouched off they would be damned for not appearing to care.

    I really am hoping Bowyer starts our strongest team tomorrow, in a 442 formation. If we lose then who cares, its a pointless competition anyway and the league should be priority, and Bowyer can carry on tinkering for the foreseeable future...

    ...but win and we stick to the same formation and personnel for future games, utilising our players to the best of their ability

    Fans are quickly getting restless with GB and his stubbornness to do what seems the obvious, and rightly so

    As I understand it, these are the eligibility rules for this season's competition, for League One and Two teams.

    At least 4, of the 10 starting, outfield players must meet one, or more, of the following qualifying requirements:
    • Started last league match (i.e, Crewe away, i.e. A. O'Connor, P. O'Connor, Richards-Everton, Mellor, Akpan, Devitt, Palmer, Wood, Donaldson & Vaughan);
    • Starts next league match (scheduled to be home against Northampton);
    • Is one of the 10 outfield players to have started the most first team matches this season (I make that A. O'Connor, Mellor, Richards-Everton, Donaldson, Vaughan, Palmer, Henley, Wood, Gibson & Anderson);
    • Has made 40+ first team appearances (for any Club) during their career (that should cover a few more, including the likes of Tyler French, Jackson Longridge, Zeli Ismail, Shay McCartan, Harry Pritchard and Callum Cooke); or
    • Is on loan from a Premier League club (none, unless something happens today).
    So, with very few exceptions, pretty much everybody in our first team squad.

    Hope we go a 4-3-3 type tonight. Use that tactic at home with our quality out wide and going forward.

    Devitt could play left of front 3 for some more fitness. Ismail the other side?

    Get the ball out wide quickly and get at these.
