City V Newcastle u21

There's a reason none of these U21 sides have ever gotten to the latter stages of the competition..

 

Over egging it, even our manager thought we defended poorly. I see you bring the stats out to prove something like we dominated the game but we still lost a game we shoudn't have.

 

That Newcastle U21 side looked to be one of the youngest we've played by looking at them,don't know how true it is to other U21 sides we've played?

 

We couldn't beat Newcastle juniors. Their defenders never panicked, ours did.

 

He didn’t just get the best out of cook, regardless of whether he bottled it or not he’s the only manager since 2017 that got us into the playoffs

Absolutely bloody shit show this club has been, any fan still making excuses for them after what we’ve endured over the last 7 years should hang their bloody heads in shame

The only theme I'm suggesting is we defended poorly against the U21 and Grimsby side, if you want to say different it's up to you.

 

It wasn't great let's be honest and I'm usually positive.

A couple came out with a bit of credit. Lewis Richards did well, Cooky did well, Sanderson did well.

Diabete looks like he will be good, first game so hard to tell. But enjoyed getting forward.

Rest was bang average or worse tbh. Pens were shite... apart from Bobby's

Haven’t read the whole thread but for what it’s worth I went to the game on Tuesday and enjoyed it.

Doyle couldn’t do anything with the goals and made a couple of good saves.

Thought City played quite well and created numerous chances (24 attempts on goal v. 7 for Newcastle)

Oduor had a good game, as did Shepherd, Diabate, Sanderson and Richards.

New lad Adams started alright but faded, and Benn showed some promise in his short cameo.

Disappointing to lose on pens, and concede a last minute goal that’s let’s face it could have bounced anywhere.

A lot of the negativity posted here and on X after the game is unjustified IMO - there were a lot of positives.

 

The season to this date has been crap. No convincing performances, scraped a few results and then get embarrassed by Newcastle kids

 

I actually thought it was a decent free kick. I said to my lad who was watching on tv with me, as its being taken by a young gung ho wanna be Prem star, he's going to try and curl it into the far corner, when the correct thing to do would be to blast it low and hard towards the near post. Which in fairness to the boy, is what he did. Caused havoc and resulted a goal. Richards shouldn't have slid in. All he needed to do was shepherd the player towards the touchline and probably out of play. Who was the inexperienced player again?

 

Depends what you're comparing to because apart from a couple of great seasons with Parky this is probably an above average start compared with the last 15 years.
