City Ticket Office

On Friday I decided to take advantage of the club's 'Take a mate for a fiver' offer so I rang the ticket office at about 4pm, ten past at most. I needed to pay my Season Ticket direct debit anyhow, so decided to kill 2 birds with one stone. Was put on a switchboard for over an hour being told I was No.5, then No.4 in the queue, and so on, up until I eventually got through to someone who seemed to then presumably instantly hang-up! Surely that couldn't be what had happened! Despite my annoyance, I decided to give the club the benefit of the doubt, presuming that there was a large demand for the offer and that was the reason I was waiting so long, and that being cut off could simply have been a mistake or technological botch-up or something. The thing is, my friend who was to be joining me had been to the ticket office in person at 4pm to inquire generally about the offer and told me there was only 2 people working and that neither appeared to be doing anything remotely busy.
Saturday morning, I rang again, knowing that the 'mate for a fiver' offer had expired the previous midnight but still needing to pay my direct debit. I rang at around 10am-10.15am and was on the phone until literally just after midday. I was furious when the exact same thing happened. I'd spent nearly 4 hours of my weekend attempting to pay the club money and achieved nothing of the sort.
I still haven't paid up my debit because another friend ended up lending me his ticket - but this in turn could have guaranteed my original friend a ticket had I have managed to have done what I'd been trying to do since Friday afternoon.
I was wondering if this has happened to anyone else or anybody has had a similar experience to this.
I will be emailing the club with this account as I am absolutely fuming over the matter. What a disgrace.
