This lad from WBA was on loan at Rochdale and described as the worst loanee they’ve ever had by their fans.

Although to be fair the Walsall and Salford fans said similar about Wright last season. Some players just fit better at certain clubs….look at Jake young!

WBA lad has played wide just as much as a striker so far in his career. Bring in an unknown from Wales, 2 lads with little experience on loan from WBA and Villa in the hopes they come good.... when we could have used Young and seen what's actually there in Pointon. Fingers crossed it pays off.

 

Proved them wrong when he scored 5 in 19 at Dundalk though.
Those Cork City and Sligo Rovers defenders won’t forget him in a hurry.

 

Oh I won’t condemn him until I’ve seen him. I remember Walsall and Northampton fans laughing when we signed Ash Taylor, actually they weren’t wrong there.

 

If and when he plays these kids and loans out Pointon then that’s a sacking offence for Gent and Hughes.

 

Trevor Cherry brought in three unknowns from Coventry City, and built his team around them, with an unknown 20 year old in centre mid, a known bad boy upfront, an overweight striker with a 1 in 4 scoring record elsewhere and that didn't work out too badly.

 

Makes sense to loan Pointon out till Jan if he is guaranteed minutes somewhere as he won't get it here. If he plays weekly, does well and these lads aren't up to it, cancel the loans and bring Pointon in on form. Pointon has only played about an hour of men's football, nobody's a clue what player is actually in there so might as well get starts under his belt and see what type of consistency there is in the lad. But doesn't look like he's anywhere near a starting slot here at the minute.

I’d say Bobby is very much ready to start matches. Whether he lasts a full 90 or not remains to be seen

 

It sounds like we have introduced a lot of pace this year which we badly lacked last season after Wright departed. Let’s hope these lads can play a bit as well

 

Didn't say Bobby wasn't ready, for me I'drather throw our own in and see what we have. But it's just he's so far down the queue after this weeks business to start games. Won't benefit the lad just sitting in the stands and joining in at training.

Walker, Odour, Smith, Wilson, Osadebe, Afoka and Tulloch (when confirmed) all likely ahead in the wing slots. Add Chapman to that list in 5 or 6 weeks time, might be better going to a Halifax type to play some football and carry on the development. If Hughes was sold on our youth (Pointon & Youmbi) he wouldn't have signed 2 (about to be 3) forwards in the last 5 days.
