As we've got a few players closing in on 5 yellow cards, it's probably worth mentioning the rules and the City players at risk.

The suspension rules, for 21/22, are as follows:
5 yellows up to and including the 19th league match - 1 match suspension
10 yellows up to and including the 37th league match - 2 match suspension
15 yellows up to and including the 46th (final) league match - 3 match suspension
20 yellows up to and including the 46th (final) league match - to be determined by a Regulatory Commission

These are the City players approaching 5 yellow cards:
    Paudie O'Connor 4 yellows
    Elliot Watt 4 yellows
    Callum Cooke 3 yellows
    Liam Ridehalgh 3 yellows
    Yann Songo'o 2 yellows

    do these stack or not?

if player a gets 10 after the 19th game thats a 2 match suspension.
player b gets 7 before game 19 but then gets an extra 3 yellows that would be total of 3 suspensions or 1?

As I understand it, the suspensions apply as soon as they are reached.

So, say a player got booked in each of the first 5 matches, they'd serve a 1 match suspension. Then if they also got booked in each of the next 5 matches, they's serve an additional 2 match suspension. And then if they then got booked in each of the next 5 matches, they'd serve an additional 3 match suspension.

So, theoretically, it would be possible for a player to be suspended for a total of 6 matches, just through yellow cards, before the season had reached its halfway point.

    So dealing with your examples:
    • Player a would avoid suspension after their 5th booking (as it would be after the first cut off point) but, yes, they would have a 2 match suspension after their 10th booking.
    • Player b would get a 1 match suspension after their 5th booking (as it would be before the first cut off point) and then they would also have a 2 match suspension after their 10th booking.
So, yes, they would have both received 10 yellow cards, but player b would have been suspended for 3 matches as opposed to player a's 2 matches.

Thanks for the in depth explanation! Think its a bit odd players could milk that system so to speak.

Is the 19th game, our 19th game? Or the time of the official 19th round of games?

And golden boy needs to stop being a lazy bollocks and track back for a challenge instead of sweeping someone's legs away.

Having said that a couple of games out might do him and the team good

Brilliant! Four each for Paudie and Watty! Oh. Just re-read this. You mean yellow cards not goals....
