I've just booked train tickets to Cheltenham via Manchester Piccadilly for £36 pp return, with me and the lad staying overnight. Beautiful Town is Cheltenham.

Certainly is during the festival. A minibus of us arrived at 9.30am on a Tuesday last year and the pubs were already full and lively!

Only ever been once for the football and that was straight to the ground circa 17/18 years ago, however, so I'm not sure what the 'vibe' around the town would be like on non-racedays.

Never been to the football ground but done the festival in double digits times, though I do manage at the Festival, as I work in the industry.

Cracking night after the racing.....can't imagine it been the same for a visit from the Bantams

Does anyone remember the 5-4 win there in 2009 with Hanson / Evans up front.
That was the end of Thorne / Boulding thankfully.

Peter Thorne was by far and away the best striker out of that bunch. I can see why you'd be glad to see the back of Boulding though, he massively underachieved.

We started that season ok under Stuart.
Didn't we go 8 unbeaten into October?
    Flynn in midfield etc.
    Then the season fell apart.
Stuart was sacked and we ended up with Peter Taylor.

Peter Thorne was a good striker but sadly too old and too injury prone during that season. Hanson was a breath of fresh air and went on to be a club legend.

We didn’t actually start that season very well, it began with a 5-0 defeat at Notts county ,lost at home to Lincoln and Stuart McCall was rumoured to be on the verge of the sack if we lost at Cheltenham.

It was the fact that we were railroaded into also signing his brother Rory as part of the agreement that pissed me off. Whoever brokered that particular deal was either weak as piss or receiving a decent backhander

A quick Wiki search shows a total of 15 goals in a 97 game career. What a success(!)

Ha yeah when Sven was their manager and they had Sol Campbell and Kasper Shmeichel in the team.
They were a Wrexham equivalent back then.
Hopefully Wrexham will fail and fall back down to the basement/non league like Notts County did. Hate those kind of clubs who buy success in an extreme way. It’s cheating
