After a dismal start that saw Bradford score 0 goals in 4 games, while shipping 10, The 2009/10 season didn't start well.

We were eliminated from the League Cup, and claimed a single point from our opening three league games against Port Vale (at home).

We then went to Cheltenham and won 5-4 in a typical 'we can attack, but we can't defend display'.

Stuart's statements after the match might seems relevant today.

"The lads were a little bit down as they would be, but we stayed positive because we knew that if we kept going forward, we would create chances."

    Sound familiar?

"That was the youngest, and certainly cheapest, team Bradford have put out for a long time and I’m really proud of them. There were a lot of young kids playing but they stuck together. You might get wrong decision-making with younger lads but you get that extra pace and energy."

    Sound familiar?

We finished 14th in the league that season, and Stuart left in February to be replaced by Peter Taylor.

I'm going to make a plea now to Bradford City, Stuart McCall, Ryan Sparks and anyone else frequenting this board with any influence, but put a stop to this. We get it, it's a cheap-as-chips team and they're performing badly, but we're 'consolidating'. Stuart thinks he can get kids playing well, even though he's doing worse than he did with the last cheap side we assembled, and it wasn't good enough then. He's trying to be positive because his team is young and inexperienced, and that makes some sense. But it's just history repeating itself. Winning a couple of games and putting together a pattern of WDLDDWLWDLDL isn't good enough. We are where we are for a reason, and it's the same story we saw 11 years ago.

If the club thinks there's going to be a happy outcome, they haven't been paying attention. We've done this dance before and it was heartbreaking. How far are we going to take it this time?

I was at that Cheltenham game and it was the first time James Hanson / Gareth Evans had started up front together, replacing the disappointing Thorne, Boulding / Conlon trio

it was refreshing to watch that day a team fearless of getting forward, creating chance after chance but leaking goals at the back.

Sadly the team we have today is nowhere near as good so no matter how much we throw players forward, it’s likely to end with a heavy defeat.

I was in Lanzarote with with the wife and kids at the time. The bar area at the hotel opened out towards the pool and had sky sports on 3-4 different TVs. Every time I checked there had been another goal.

Another example of City trying to give you a heart attack.

Hanson got his first goal for City that day? And we still have the odd divvy on here still saying he was shite. Strange how some people seem to watch differently to everyone else.

The side we have now seems younger - not sure it's cheaper though.
