Kyle Reid got a lot of stick for his tracking back (and has for his crossing?). But he got us moving foward time and again. Scannell needs to cause more damage then you can forgive his other frailties.

If Hopkin can pull 2 more no contracted players out of his hat we should be OK what a sad indictment that a lad who was far from match fit was a contender for MOTM after the first 30 minutes, one or two wayward passes but for me on today's performance he should be Captain.

 

Much better performance against what I thought was a very poor, but clinical Charlton side.

Centre backs are shaky. We conceded the same goal twice today, we really need to stop backing off as much as we do as good strikers will continue to punish us.

First time I've seen Wood today and it's safe to say he's miles better than Chicksen both defensively and going forward.

Both O'Briens had good games in the middle, Jim being the standout.

Forward line will become better as they continue to play together imo. Certainly looks better with Ball in there.

I hope we can now put this Brunker debate to bed now. Today was a perfect game for him but he was utterly useless as usual.

Based on today, I think when we get a few more players back, Hopkin will keep us up.

It's going to be a hard slog turning this ship around. Yet another disastrous pre-season and I expect we'll be looking over our shoulder at the relegation zone until May.

They say buy cheap, pay twice. But some of this squad are genuinely talented and the owners might have to pay thrice if they want their investment to stay in this league.

Its funny how Abbo was ranting and raving today but under Collins not a fecking peep.

 

Given the improvements I’ve seen in the short time since Hopkin came, I genuinely don’t believe we are in danger of getting relegated. I’m confident we’ll be mid table.

If Hopkin can get a couple more signings in and they do as well as O’Brien did today, plus if we get a bit more luck with injuries, there is no reason why we can’t be in the top half.

 

Difference between Stuart and Hopkin. Stuart owed us nothing but DH owes us. Not through his own fault but I'm sure in the back of his mind he owes us. If he gets this right over the next couple of years he'll be as big a legend.

 

Very much positive signs today I thought we actually looked a threat at points in the game. OK we lost but I can live with that no lack of effort today from anyone in a Bradford shirt. I can't be the only one wondering how Jim O'Brien is still a free agent I thought the guy was fantastic and definitely captain material. He was encouraging Wood all match who I thought was also very good and really got stuck in O'Brien the younger looks a good player too.

The back is the concern for me we looked shaky and they also looked to be arguing too O'Connor does not like being shouted at.

Hope Hopkin has some other free agents he knows of decent start for him.

 

Just imagine if Hopkin had been given the job in May/June and brought some of his type of players in.
I'm sorry but you have to ask wtf was Edin thinking of, was it about saving money or did he genuinely believe Micheal Collins could be the man to take us forward.

Absolutely agree. Appoint Hopkin in the summer, give him the budget that we spent and there is little doubt in my mind that we would be competing for the top 6.

 

ok, what was the general reaction of the crowd at the end? Was it a sort "meh, lost again" or was it a generally positive response to what seems like a clearly improved performance?

 

If my aunty had balls etc. We are where we are. Onwards and upwards. Eventually.

 

Some knobheads behind me in upper kop block H were loudly mouthing off during second half about "play football" and "take 2 passes" or summat like that.

At final whistle they proceeded to shout obscenities at ER and point fingers angrily. They were on their own as everyone else clapped the tremendous effort the players put in.
