Good luck to him if he's managed correctly Lincoln have a player who's very capable. I would have liked him to stay mainly because you could see how good he could have been since Hughes came in but if you judge him on his time as a whole he has been inconsistent.

Don't know why people are loosing it about him and Paudie going really they are both part of a team that only managed a 14th placed finish in league 2 they can be replaced.

Vernam released by Derby. Did ok at Grimsby in L2. Shite and unwanted at Burton in L1.

    Chapmans CV is better.

Playing devils advocate his record was 10 in 34, not bad at all for a winger. Id be happy with Chapman returning that.

I do think Charles is a loss, definately one of the better squad members but looks like we have a solid replacement.

    A loss, yes. Replaceable, yes.

If that’s the case and I was an imp fan, I’m sure I’d be having kittens. Watt cant pass to Vernam any more than 20% of the time and POD can’t pass full stop. That’s my observation over a season ?

The toxic atmosphere at VP before Hughes came most likely helped to make his decision, As others have said.. higher league, higher wages who can blame him. Good luck!

Higher up the football pyramid, better wages maybe, better players to play alongside and against.

Good luck to the man. Wish him the very best.

Those teams you mention get the old juices flowing when it comes to fixtures next season. Quite envious of Vernam and the Lincoln fans having the privilege of visiting them and having them visit your ground. We'd be looking at 20,000 + crowds if we were in Lincolns shoes.

Good luck to Vernam, played his better games under Mark Hughes. Can’t fault a lad wanting to play for his home club whatever division.

it’s what we do next season that counts, I am sure Hughes will of anticipated the loses of the out of contact players and have a plan. Might not be a permanent signing which we are all waiting for that announcement, but a good loan player from a decent higher league club. These don’t become available until training starts.

I’m not sure we can replace him without slashing the cash. He had a goal contribution nearly every other game which at our level for a winger are very good numbers. If Lincoln can keep him fit and play to his strengths then he should do well there. His pace and positioning sense is a threat and he will be missed here. He’s the one from the 3 that I thought was imperative to keep hold of.

I'm amazed by the comments about a bang average League 2 player who's already failed in League 1. Let's see how he's doing by Christmas, Paudie too for that matter. Watt, another rejected by a higher club and who's hardly pulled up any trees for two League 2 clubs. I don't know why people can't see that, even by League 2 standards, these aren't very good players. We need much better to get promoted.
PS I'd be very worried if I was a Lincoln fan. I can see them getting relegated this season.

No. I've said his end of season form was great. I disagree with mood from some that this is some kind of devastating blow and he can't be replaced, without busting the bank.

To me, it was far more important than Walker stayed.

Of course we'd be better off with Vernham - but that doesn't mean he was as great as some imply.

Yet happy with players that Swindon, FGR and Walsall weren’t bothered about keeping hold of.
Players they will probably never heard of prior to us signing them.

I think we should all respect each other's views, Roger, without going overboard about it. Some, like you, think Vernam is a great loss. Others, like me and for reasons I've explained pretty clearly on here in recent times, disagree. I think we should all keep a keen eye on how our former players get on at their new clubs and perhaps revisit the discussion at a later date. All that matters now is how well MH can mould new players and old into a successful side and I, for one, am optimistic that he can do that very well.
And, by the way, I'm most certainly not stupid.

Thats fair comment. It just makes me laugh that there are some who would have been singing his praises had he signed a new contract but because he's decided to move he's suddenly not so good. I actually rate the guy, he suffered under the God awful Derek Adams as did every player at the club. I'll go with the actual fact here that he's gonna be playing a higher level of football next season than any player that starts at Valley Parade next season.

Definitely saw the best of Vernam under Hughes. Given the way Hughes likes his teams to play and the fact it suits Vernams game, then it is a shame to see him go. Getting a full season from him under this system could have turned out to be quite a prolific season. Alas it's not to be.

Can't forget we also have Eisa on the books. If his potential is as good - if not better - than Vernam then we might not miss the lad.

I wish Vernam all the best at his boyhood club in the league above. Can't knock the lad for taking the opportunity.

Well Eisa is gonna have to show this appearent potential sooner rather than later, 10 games in league 1 and 85 in league 2 at the age of 26 suggests he's either a very late developer or he's found his level

Wish him all the best. Not consistent enough over the piece for me but did link up well with Ridehalgh down the left at times.
