For the first time in a long time I have faith in the management to make the right decisions in terms of team selection, substitutions and recruitment. If they thought we needed another in midfield they'd have brought someone in. They didn't, and that's good enough for me.

I'm trusting Turnbull, Trueman and Sellers are confident they have the cover they need for CM as I just can't believe this is something they've overlooked.

Disagree. I think there were players under mccall who, shall we say, exaggerated their injuries

I commented on this when we signed Rowe. We really could have done with a decent ball winning central midfielder.

Evans played CM for Portsmouth quite a lot so should be good cover.

Cooke can play deeper. He's not as effective, but he's comfortable there. Evans can do it too, Clarke to maybe a lesser extent. Its maybe a risk and we'll see how it pans out. We do have options though and its likely we had to make a call over where best to spend our money for most return. Strengthening the starting spots for the wide forward areas was a higher priority.

I agree. It isn't a priority. Unless there was the chance of a really good CM in the window just gone, leave it until the summer when there's more options to choose from.

They can bring someone in if they want, transfer windows are now irrelevant to us. We boss recruitment and if we want to sign someone outside the window we will, there's nothing their club, the EFL, FA, UEFA or FIFA can do about it.

We all do, but we're talking about options in case he gets injured or his inevitable suspension.

I think these responses show it shouldn't be an area of concern as there are plenty of options to cover if needed. We're never going to have perfect back up for every position. We're a league 2 team not man city

Yeah, there are back up players - they might not be ideal, but it is what it is.

AOC could potentially deputise for Levi, but not for Watt. If Watt were to be injured, it would have to be Cooke moving back, in which case we've got plenty of people to fill in behind Rowe/Novak/Cook.

TBF over the last few games I have seen Sutton has done just that. Its Watt that concerns me in general drifts in and out of the game.

Wow, players are so talented these days, they get to pick and choose the severity of their injuries? I don't think ANY footballer wants to miss ANY games, but sometimes injuries happen, and sometimes recovery doesn't go the way it should.
Fingers crossed they stay fit, but believe me, it's definitely not up to them to decide if their hamstring pings or not.

Cheers for the replies, just wanted to guage how other City fans saw us for bodies in CM. I like Cooke but im not totally convinced by him deeper. He was neat & tidy but I thought the game passed him by a fair bit when he played the majority of the time in that role. Admittedly that was in a struggling side next to Akpan so hopefully if he's 3rd choice for that role now he'll be able to maintain his form better.

Maybe im getting carried away but I've convinced myself were making a push for the play-offs and would hate it to unravel due to lack of a proper CM if the worse should happen.

    Time will tell I guess....

Watt is our most creative players though that through ball to Cooke on Saturday was worth the iFollow money on its own

I agree he's got a decent pass on him but he's also playing as our holding midfielder and can get caught out positionaly at times. That's why I'd still like I'd to bring in an experienced holding midfielder to both give genuine competition and for the younger lads to work with.

I agree! I've been banging on about this for weeks. He's got the makings of a great player, but he'd come on so much more if there was someone in the first team in that position who is more experienced. I've seen Watt spray some nice Hollywood balls around the park, but I've also seen him dreadfully exposed and out of position, and I've also seem him jump in for a tackle, got sat down, and let the attacking player have the entire final third to think about which corner of the net to put it into. He doesn't seem to communicate with our centre backs as well as he should either.
Don't get me wrong - he's doing a job, but I just think it's such an important position, we'd really benefit from a player who is a bit more experienced in that role.
