Can you imagine..

What's so frustrating about these players is there's so much ability, yet absolutely no bottle or fight whatsoever.
You think back to one of our poorest teams, that finished near the bottom of league 2. That was almost the opposite, not much ability, but plenty of fight. The likes of Davies, Oliver, Flynn, Bullock, Hanson.
Shows that you need more than just talent.

 

I really don't understand why we let Karl Henry and Jim O'Brien go. their bite in midfield made a big difference.

 

Karl Henry was about as static as my grandads caravan over in Filey and unfortunately you can't tackle people if you can't get within 15 yards of them.

 

and yet despite all that we were still better with him in the team.

 

Agree about O'Brien. However, it was right to let Henry go, his legs had gone, and offered nothing whatsoever

 

No we weren't, that's why he was released in retirement just weeks after he'd arrived.

Sorry but there are players we've got that have proved time and again throughout their careers that they have ability. We have seen glimpses, even if only in small parts. Trust me it's more than just a lack of talent that has us bottom of the table.

 

I’ve said it a few times this season but honestly would have taken an aging Andrew Davies over the two dispsticks we’ve had at CB this season. The same said for Hanson (when fit). I honestly believe both would have improved this team, which says a lot for how bad we’ve been.

I’ve never been a huge NKP fan but respect he had one decent season under McCall. I don’t wish to see either of him or O’Conner starting for us next season, and preferably not at the club. Neither have shown any qualities as to why they deserve to be here, and one could argue they’ve been two of the main culprits behind this forgetful season.

 

If I remember rightly Chris Waddle barely moved when he played for us.

 

I recall a game at VP where CW had the ball in midfield, facing two of the opposition. Neither he nor the ball actually moved anywhere, but a quick 'twitch' of both shoulders opened a gap for him to stroll through, before sending a perfect diagonal ball to the left wing. Magic and delightful !!

 

Davies couldn’t keep up with play at Hartlepool before spitting his dummy out and walking out.

At the time I thought both would be replaced like for like, and that was probably the right decision. The fact we didn't replace them makes the decision to release look stupid.

 

There really, really isn’t. The only players with ‘real ability’ are Payne, O’Brien and Butterfield. Possibly Ball too.

And none of them are ours.

 

Payne O'Brien butterfield Ball. So there's ability. Caddis as a right back is more than good enough for league one. Doyle has a proven track record. Scannel too, although been out most of season so hard to really say much. But my point being there is ability in this squad.
But, having a few good individuals doesn't make a good team. That's the point im making.

 

Also i shouldn't have used the words "so much". That was stretching it a bit.
