Worth remembering Cook is turning 34 at the start of next season, but you know, 3 year deals n all that. I think Cook will start to get phased out from next season, even this year compared to last, he is getting more frustrated. Doesnt seem as confident with his feet, doesn't create out of nothing as he used to. I dont have the stats, but seemingly won more in the air last season too.

When he does start getting phased out, I wouldn't mind us trying to adopt a more technical play. Feels like it's been target man football for 15 years with Hanson, then Wyke, then Cook with odd spells of difference in there.

 

You can go back over the last few years and people like your good self having a go at not giving players a chance and guess what a high percentage of the time they turn out to be duds

I hope he proves us wrong but our recent record of these kind of signings end up being piss poor

Strange signing for me, and I stick my neck out again and say it’s lazy. Boro connection that’s all. Do you think GA has heard/seen of him, or is it just Gent picking over his old club again?

He’s young yes, great. One for the future. But the fact is we need players for today, this season. I don’t see Wrexham, who have a desire to get out of this basement division asap, signing players for the future. They are bringing in players who can do the job and have an impact from the off. Fair enough, money helps.

Maybe it was just rumours, but if we’d have unveiled Wyke, then that would have been the biggest rabbit out of the hat for Sparks since Mark Hughes. A signing that shows both intention and fan base connection. But nope, you pay peanuts you get what you get.

His record so far in league 2 is crap. I’m all for giving players a chance but once again we’ve not learnt from our mistakes and handed out a contract length which seems undeserved. We never seem to learn. Another gent masterclass and by the looks of it only doesn’t his scouting in and around his old club. It’s boring and predictable .

People can try and spin this singing into a positive all they like. It’s not good enough.
Some striker from Middlesbrough where our useless head of recruitment came from, a keeper who’s played about 3 games in 5 years who got the job because he used to play along side our back up and Wright. I’m glad I’ve given up giving this club another penny of my money. It’s a complete circus.

 

The glaringly obvious miss is Dara Costelloe.

I don’t think Lawn and Rhodes pumped massive amounts in and look how we did. What they focused on was the first team squad and buying/bringing quality into the dressing room. What we have is an owner/CEO spreading the income too thinly across the board. Clubs with smaller budgets have left us standing. It’s how it’s spent that counts and Parky knows how to spend it wisely.

 

Unfortunately talented managers who can do that are few and far between.

He’s done the same with Odour, and that may have just worked? Certainly on his last two outings it has. Honestly I’d given up on him, but hey I’m not an experienced FM.
