How long should they have been given? A dozen games in maybe?

    I’m not signing it.

What the feck is a petition gonna do? Absolutely nothing! Bury in league 1 as we know are gone, dead in the water, no coming back.

Best thing Bury fans can do is unite around reforming in the lower leagues next season. Waste of time and effort trying other wise.

I suspect you are right about the impact of a petition. However, I certainly believe Bury have a case, I mean how clear does the EFL's own regulation have to be:
It looks like this could be heading to court.

I can't see why any so called football fan would not sign the petition, I would hope for the sake of 2/3 minutes fellow football fans would back our club given the same situation.
Donating is different but £3 hardly going to break the bank IMO.

It’s futile. They probably won’t win the case, and even if they did, it sets a dangerous precedent to any dodgy nobhead who wants to milk another club dry.

And to add to that, we’ll be well into October before they can even think about putting together a team of free agents and youngsters. I don’t see how they’ll be able to see through the season with such a pile up of fixtures, it’s pointless. As I said, Bury fans need to rally round setting up a new club lower down, they’d be a big club there, it wouldn’t take long to start winning games and get some momentum going.

Yes, there is. Waste of time and money. Money that goes into lawyers pockets who couldn’t give a shit.

It is strange how many City fans think that Bury should be expelled. Presumably they also believe Bradford City should have been expelled in 1983 when we missed Football League deadline after deadline and were actually wound up.

Back then, the Football League, went the extra mile and then some. A new company was set up, we were given time to raise the funding required and we were even allowed to retain our name. Thankfully, today's EFL was not around then.

Its certainly cropped up on the 'Bury & the EFL' thread; also, said by City fans at Crewe yesterday.

I have a feeling that they will have had legal advice that somewhere in their rules that allows it to happen

The more football fans show their support the better chance they will listen. So how can a couple of clicks not be worth it

I am not signing, not because I don’t want to see Bury back in the league, but because I don’t want that owner to be back in charge of Bury, so he can make more money out of them. If there was some way to get them back in minus him I would sign it in a breath.

I would also be wary of donating money, who knows where that will end up, hopefully not in his pocket. This man has had several businesses that have ended up in the same boat.

Bury have expelled themselves. The company has gone into liquidation. It exists no more. You can't bring something back that no longer exists. Bolton still existed because Football Ventures paid money to the admistrator keep it ticking over intact day to day, after it had run out of cash, while they tried to negotiate a deal. When Bury ran out of cash, it stopped trading and did not fulfil fixtures. The various bits of ground and car park had charges on them which mean they went to different people in a default. The adminstrator held off liquidation while several bidders were gaining information about the charges but the club had no money and was not fulfilling fixtures. Eventually the EFL has to say "no more" because Bury were not complying with rules. They were given leeway but it eventually caused insurmountable problems after too many fixtures were missed.

Anybody wanting to set up a new Bury has to set up a new company, raise £millions and buy the infrastructure back quickly before they get built on and they'll probably not be able to outbid anyone who wants to develop them. How does signing a petition help fans set up a new well-funded company quickly? Even if it can buy the gound and car park, etc. back, the club will instantly lose money if they want to compete at League 2 or Conference Level. Who would raise £millions to have a load of hassle and lose money. They will more likely raise £thousands and have to apply to a lower League and start with a much more modest ground and fan base. The new company will need to find a new ground, new staff, new suppliers, new sponsors and new players. That will probably take at least this season and next. It might run at breakeven in lower leagues on good crowds. But still, how does a petition help?

If you want to help, find out which fans group is considering setting up the replacement club and offer them money. We would hope for that if City ever went bust. Bear in mind that you will basically be helping to fund a business for somebody else by doing that. You might be better offering to take shares yourself. Bury fans will still get a club that way but you might eventually get a small return frrom whatever you invest - though not likely a profit!

I don't mean to sound cynical. I'm just telling it like it is. Football clubs always threaten going bust because most don't make money. A select few clubs, players and officials get the lion's share. If you don't like that, campaign to get TV money shared more evenly. Fans have power if they choose to use it. Don't listen to FA, EFL, bigger clubs and players. They don't want their gravy train halting. They will tell you it's difficult to change. Smaller clubs and fans need to organise if they want change. Sponsors and advertisers would not want to be linked to controversy and upset fans!

    No, the EFL expelled them.

No they haven't, although the EFL expelling them could well lead to that.

Bury Football Club is still there at the moment.

I assume you've never heard of a football club/company that was wound up in 1983, set up a new company and was allowed to take over the existing football club and place in the football league? Their name, Bradford City!

Good reply, as a football family why don't they take 2 minutes out to give Bury any chance they may still have of survival.
I'd hope other fans would do the same for us if God forbid Bradford City ever got into Burys position.
Just sign the petition 3/4 clicks of a mouse ?.
