why did I bother?

that was an absolute disgrace and if I was Hughes I’d be getting rid of most of them in January and finding replacements. If we get promotion, the squad simply wouldn’t be good enough for league 1 and worryingly once injuries and suspensions start to hit in the winter we might be in big trouble.

 

It’s not meaningless if you’re a fringe player hoping not to be a fringe player.
After tonight and the Leicester kids shambles I don’t think any of them would dare bang on Hughes’ door asking to start games.
I noticed Harratts dad there tonight. I wonder what he thought because Kian was shite.

 

This is just it - I don't care about the competition, but I expected us to do well due to the perceived quality and depth of our squad.

Our performances so far do absolutely nothing for those players that have the chance to play - except, like you say, reduce their chances significantly of breaking into our first XI.

Quite disappointed in the players tonight; the competition, I still don't care about.

 

I understand that when managers speak to the press their comments shouldn't be taken too literally but im bemused by Hughes post match interview where he stated that 'it wasn't a 4-0 game' and praised the attitude of the players. I hope he doesn't actually believe that because we were shambolic from start to finish. It was a 4-0 game all day long and the attitude and application was nowhere near good enough

 

Can't disagree with that not one showed they could be capable of pushing for a starting place, poor all over the park.

 

I've yet to hear the post match interview but he is obviously trying to sheald his players, but as you say even before they scored it was all one way and no suprise it was a heavy defeat and could have been worse.

 

I think that's right Dave. He's one of the most experienced managers in the country, so he must be able to see the reality.

Greater quality at CB and CM in January is a must.

 

From what the comms team were saying mostly first teamers against City’s squad fillers?

 

I could write down a long list of who had very very poor games, however I will get accused of “picking” on certain players but we all know who they are and even when given a full game one of them just amplifies how poor they really are!

 

Hes one for the future and certainly not the present, mind you Yan isn’t a centre back either. He can play there, so can I , but not very effectively!

 

Didn’t see the game at all last night and apparently we were terrible. However when you make 9 changes even top Premier league sides who are bristling with international players become disjointed as you see with FA cup results. It doesn’t mean all the fringe players are rubbish and must get rid ,it’s just that when they are thrown in together you get a disjointed performance.

 

Once again proof that in a back 4 in the middle he's heavily exposed.
He played right side of a back 3 at Hartlepool where you are up against wide men mostly.
Odusina has pace and can put in a tackle.
He's not outjumping a 6 foot 4 striker or outmuscling players like Wooton.
I would have him at RB and see how he goes but not ahead of Halliday.

 

Oh and next round if we want to progress then Barrow at home please.
Draw any of the other remaining sides and we are out imo.

 

We could bring Reece Staunton in as cover until January, Never let us down and give Odusina more time to get up to scratch

Staunton was sold to BPA he’s not coming back. Not performing well for Avenue apparently according to an Avenue supporter I know,

 

BPA are not in the football league so not subject to FL transfer regulations so he could join us on a six month loan as cover
