4-4-2 doing its job tonight. Anyone got a recording of the goal?

 

Good to hear. At least they're trying tonight!

How's the closing down when they have the ball? Better or still ponderous?

 

Plenty of effort. The ball is by passing the midfield a lot, playing it directly out to the wings (Payne and Scannell). Had a few chances, Akpan should have made it two nil. No nonsense defending by us. And no, we don't seem to be closing down more agressively, Burton just don't seem to be using the ball very well. They've had some joy down the wings, with their left winger looking increasingly dangerous.
If we keep this up, then hopefully we'll have some chances on the break, as Burton as bound to take the game to us more.
McGowan will get booked. Looks a bit clumsy, and jumps in too much.
Miller not doing much. Doyle making some runs, but generally it's the Scannell just chucking it into the box hoping for someone to get on the end of it. Payne making things tick.

The right hand side of our defence is a problem. It was he same at Southend as well.

Doesn’t matter if it’s Riley or Mellor at RB. McGowen has been poor again tonight after a poor performance at Southend. Despite all the clamour for him to replace NKP, I don’t think he’s been any better.

Anybody else think this game is crying out for Kai? We are just launching balls up top but it’s just coming straight back.

Win on Saturday and you’d have to say it’s been a decent start to the season.

9 points from 5 games and 4 games against teams that you would expect to be in or around the top 6.

 

Much more desire to win the ball back but the time and space Burton found was very concering
