You're right, he was but I'm talking about Chicksen and he played ok.

 

Yeah thought he had a steady game. Mellor and McGowen were the weaker players within he back 4. Sadly some will still harp on about Chicksen being crap because they refuse to consider the possibility that he doesn’t play crap every game.

 

Was it me but that was a poor quality game.

Great result mind.

 

Very pleased with the clean sheet and three points... however I feel we've to improve a lot if we want to be up there this season. Not sure on the reasoning for Mellor's departure but I hope it's not an injury - whenever somebody attacks Riley I expect a goal. We need a system that fits Payne down the middle as that's where he is most effective. Has Doyle had a shot on goal yet? We need a big man too (other than Brunker…) because I don't think he's won a header yet either!

On the positives I love O'Donnell's passion, if he stays injury free I feel he'll be a standout this season. Follow tonight's win with a win on Saturday and it's not been the worst of starts. With games against two relegated sides and last years losing PO finalists, to go in to September on 9 points would be a nice start and something to build on.

 

If we had drawn tonight that would have been a fair result. But we didn't.

Lots of passion and endeavour but RHS of defence still worries me and the number of times their lads had free headers in front of our back 4 rapidly needs addressing.

Payne and Scannell were my stand outs.

Akpan started very slowly and seemed to be just a half a yard slow. Hopefully he gets to full fitness asap.

What heartened me was at the final few seconds when their lad shinned it wide Wright absolutely tore into Colville who had just chipped up possession far too easily in the MR/KOP corner when we were trying to run down the clock.

Great result. Just what we needed.

Finally the fans that were there-you were a credit to the club. There was never 15,000 but it sounded like it at times.

No negativity and no booing and NO PROTESTS!!! Where were you guys?

 

As someone said there was one Kilgallon on the pitch tonight, his son with the number 5 shirt on, when the guy got to him and said whos your favourite player he shout Kilgallon, good for you son.

 

A pointon the atmosphere, I thought it was very good tonight and against Barnsley. Very loud at times.

 

The worrying thing for me is the fact we created very little against York and Carlisle in preseason, and the signs were there that we needed better up front and in midfield but yet nothing's been done about it except for Doyle but lost Wyke. I hope to God they don't think we've finished with our recruitment because if they do then we're in the shit.

 

Not going , will be at saturdays game though selling pitchforks .

 

After that disgrace on Saturday(2-0 wasn't a fair reflection for them imo), it's hard to get inspired to attend, but against my better judgement I will be there. A first half like Saturday(don't know how it was 0-0) and I'll do what I've never done before however and leave at half time.

We have some decent players on paper, but again like a number of times last season it didn't feel we had the fundamental attributes needed at this level. All our successful teams of the past have always had them; determination, desire, willing to win those 50/50 duels across the pitch and a running through brick walls mentality. The players looked like they could just show up, sorry but that's never been the case at any level in professional sport.

We need to see some sort of team out there tomorrow as they all looked lost, I have no problem losing early season, it happens, but at least be competitive and that means not letting teams through at will and actually creating chances our selves.

The coaching team have got a lot of work to do, because they don't look like they have a clue at the moment. For me Payne is the most talented player we have, it's finding out how to play him. I'd consider either playing him as the second striker, ala Robbie Blake or go with a Diamond and have him at in the most advanced midfield role, can't see how he works in a midfield 2. And please play Scannell on the right ffs, it's so obvious he's better on that side. It'd be good to actually give the poor full backs a bit of protection as well, I feel for them over anyone as they are just so exposed constantly.

They need to restore faith with the fans, which is a shame to be saying after only 4 competitive matches, time for them too show some competence.

Personally I can see a dire game however, 0-0 or 1-0 either way hope I'm wrong.

 

.....but Wilsden we were told individuals were recruited because they had the right attributes and bought in to the way Mr Rahic and his cohorts want to take us forward.

Chicksen is utter shi&e

 

First of all we've been shite in midfield so far and you'd only play one central midfielder?

Secondly you'd leave out arguably our best performer so far in O'Connor?

 

Or he simply feels this is the best formation for the particular game
