Lost 3-1 to what seems like it was a decent Burnley side with Barnes and Lennon. Sounds like Staunton did well against Lennon, pitty for him that he's behind probably the only player that has a guaranteed place with Wood. Might be worth putting Wood into midfield for a few games if we are wanting to see how Staunton will do.
Other confirmed players are Henley,Paudi, a midfield diamond of Devine, Pritchard, Taylor and youngster Kian Scales with McCartan and Gibson up front.

Noticed 18 year old Kian Scales played in the friendly. I believe he has scored 15 goals from midfield this season for the under 18's. Interesting that McCall selected him yesterday. Maybe one to look out for in pre season in the summer?

Yes, hopefully lads like him and Staunton are a little closer to the first team next season.

Currently, there are far too many players ahead of them in the queue, whereas with a smaller, slimmer squad, we can hopefully have fewer, higher quality players in their way. Stuart's basically said he wants 20 senior players backed up by young players, which will be much better for us in terms of developing players. Let's hope he doesn't panic and sign a load of loanees at the first sign one of them might get minutes.

When you think about it, it really is pathetic the number of players who have appeared on the team sheet this season and not one of them has been a home produced player under 20 years of age. If the club wants to progress at all this has to change, as JB says it has to be a 20'ish man squad backed up by youth team players so they gain experience even if it is just by being in the squad initially.
