I know and framed me, thought I saw Edin and someone else at Stansfield Arms on the phone with binoculars.

Fair enough although it seems bizarre to me, never heard of private number plates being cloned. I’m sure it’ll all come out in the wash.

I agree with them here, bit smelly this.. How many of you wouldnt kick off if you were in the same position as him? Bought a car from a someone then get cuffed on no evidence. Drugs and firearms they said yet no dogs or armed response.

I'd love to know if BRE personally knew the people he bought the car from. Would be an interesting twist.

Cuffed because of no evidence? He was cuffed because there was a suspicion of firearms. How are the police supposed to know whether its the real car or a cloned one until they look into it? Once they knew this he was free to leave the scene.

I imagine there was no firearms police involved as they took an judgement call based on the fact he was outside of the car in shorts and vest with no obvious firearm on his person.

But then if he did have firearms he shoots the police, nothing they can do.. That Huddersfield drug lord? Or dealer? had a *huge* armed police response. He was probably suspected to be armed (if i remember correctly the dealer *was* armed). Makes no sense for me to go into a gun fight with a stab proof vest.

Regardless we will see what the solicitors say. Don't think they would persue without just cause.

I didn't realise that the club had money to waste on frivolous legal actions. What is BRE expecting to gain from this? He has had his day of fame.
The police appear to have acted by the book.

I know I’ll get shot down with this but......
To those of you demanding ST refunds, putting the boot into BRE and generally siding with Mr Plod, have you noticed the recent BLM protests around the world? Do you wonder what all the taking the knee stuff is about in the premiership? Maybe you don’t agree with the black lives matter campaign, however as a white middle class middle aged bloke I know two things which are fact.
    1) if I were in BREs position I’d have proper shit myself and would now be rightfully angry
    2) as a white middle aged bloke I guarantee I would have been treated differently.
My second point sums up the BLM agenda, black people, especially young male ones meet prejudice every day.
i for one am proud of the club for taking a stand and supporting Ben.
I am however a little ashamed of my fellow fans opinions on the matter!

In general the snowflake generation are unwittingly making solicitors stupidly rich.

    Wish I was a solicitor. ;)

I would hope you don't get pelters for that.

For the record I'm fully in support of the Black Lives Matters awakening that has occured recently. However that does not necessarily mean that the police can't stop black people if they have any suspicions at all. Things do need to be equalised though and the renewed focus is welcome.

The club getting involved is simply weird though unless, as I said earlier, they are going to make a supportive statement and organise legal advice every time any of the other players is stopped or spoken to by the police.

BRE has every right to be pissed off with the situation but it's a personal matter, not for the club.

What do the club or BRE , gain from getting the solicitors involved? Financial recompence?

I genuinely dont understand the reasons for going down that route, whats he gonna get seriously? Sorry we were wrong here's £1500.

You had the choice and the right to pursue it if you wanted to, but on advice chose not to. This is one of the reasons why the police, big institutions and large companies get away with treating "the little man, the BAME, the poor" how they do.

Your solicitor couldn't be arsed, but if more people stood up (and not having a go at you), did, then change can happen. BLM is just one group who've had enough of the police stopping people on a whim and then claiming to have good cause. BRE was guilty before proven innocent in the eyes of the officers who stopped him. As has already been said, if they seriously thought he might be armed, there would've been an armed unit on the scene.

In my opinion, this was just a "oh look, what's he doing in that car, let's stop him and have a look". Subconscious racism if you will. It's something we all have, but until it's pointed out to us, would probably be denied by the majority including me.

Believe me it really wasn't a case of my solicitor not being arsed, his advice was based purely on the prospect of success.

The handcuffing itself has nothing to do with the police thinking someone is guilty or not. All they are thinking about is their own safety. In my own case the officers actually told me that they would spare me the indignation of cuffing because of my calm demeanour. Later when what was happening started to sink in I verbally kicked off and straight away the cuffs came out. If I'd of been them I'd have done exactly the same thing.

So long as those markers are based on genuine intelligence, BRE should be getting the same advice that I got. Certainly there's nothing in the video untoward and the officers behaved professionally. The fact that he will probably get some sort of redress will be down to it being high profile and a political hot topic at the moment. It appears to me BRE is exploiting these facts and this exposes other inequalities.

Without disputing your overall point - because I agree there is disproportionality - you make it sound a little binary.

There will also be BAME people who have never been stopped and white people who have - me for example.

However only one group of people seem to have a system for complaining about it..

Maybe the club provides certain legal support as part of the players contractual arrangements; many companies provide a wealth of additional 'benefits', in addition to salary, including legal cover.

Or maybe, the club are privy to information that isn't yet in the public arena.

Or maybe both the above. Or maybe not. Perhaps we should just wait and see.
