You’re right, the atmosphere in those league 1 seasons under PP and even under McCall in 2017 was phenomenal.
We had exciting wingers and big centre forwards and there was always a feeling we’d create chances and score goals.
Moving the drummer back to the Kop is not the answer though, it’s the performances on the pitch that will get fans excited enough to chant and cheer.

Yes the 4 Hughes has brought into the side Clayton, Derbyshire, Walker and Stubbs are making us stronger, just a shame Darbyshire pulled something tracking back.
Walker has got better with each game just a shame he got a red the other week he'd probably be up to speed now.

Must admit I found the game to be slightly underwhelming last night. A decent victory, two goals to remember. Walkers as he really wanted to open them up and have a shot and it paid off with a lovely strike. Cook’s because the Tranmere keeper had obviously been affected by an ‘alien tractor beam’ and appeared totally dazed and confused as it dropped over his head.
The possession football is very neat, but defensive in its nature. No problem with possession, but opening up the opposition with some quick tight forward passes/running needs to be part of it. We seem to pass it round endlessly and the fear is being caught, with an immediate opportunity opening up for the away team.
Don’t do ‘booing’, a small round of applause at full time and then on my way. It was a murky night and basically just wanted to get home to the warmth.

was it really ???? I could have sworn the booing started at 1-0 up ........... and even at 0-0 so what you think it’s gonna help the players pulling them to bits before halftime ?????? And it would have happened has it not been for Walker

have folk actually thought that the reason we go back so much is because they simply are to afraid to make a mistake ?????? Folk can go on about forward play etc but we all know that one wrong ball in the final 3rd will just create more heckles ............ you simply cannot win down there ............. Stevenage away, Tranmere home two tough games and we pull out two wins and folk are still complaining.................... God forbid we beat Barrow that will really rip the moaning bastards over the edge

I disagree Gaz. I think most folk are fairly forgiving if we try something to open up a chance and it doesn't come off. Unfortunately we are equally likely to make a mistake, if not more so, when we are tapping it around at the back inviting pressure. I'm not saying we shouldn't do it, just that it should have a purpose. Sometimes it just looks lazy and nobody willing to take responsibility for making a play

Some of the comments on here and on the radio are bizarre. We won against a decent team and didn't concede a single shit on target. Some of the football was good, and it only went downhill when some of the neg heads started to get on the teams back for not playing like Real Madrid, which in turn makes the team anxious.

It's league two, we won, we are very well placed to move up over the next few weeks.

Get behind them and be that 13th man for us, rather than boosting the opposition's confidence.

The pre and post radio coverage was bizarre sure enough. Kiwomya spent all pre-match robustly defending Hughes for not making any changes from the Stevenage game and post match criticised Hughes for picking Derbyshire making out he was effectively to blame for getting him injured.

no mate they will simply find a reason to moan ............. we win 2-0 last night and how many times was our keeper called into action ????
Jamie Walker isn’t up to scratch yet ( god help this league when he does hit top form)
The midfield looks better already but this trio have only been together for a couple of weeks so it’s bound to get even better once they really suss each other out
Stubbs looks like the real deal already
The loss of Derbyshire last night could have proved costly but it didn’t

I’m actually optimistic going forward now we pick up a fair few points over the next 5 games then it may not be just 3rd we are after it could be 2nd :) Stevenage could be another that are about to go for a big wobble at the wrong time

I'm very optimistic myself Gaz, but as I've said several times already on this thread, sometimes we invite pressure on ourselves when messing around at the back - particularly that 10 minute spell. Now it wouldn't surprise me if rather than laziness or unwillingness to take responsibility, it could be that some of our players just aren't up to full fitness yet and were taking a breather, taking the easy option. It wasn't just some fans who were frustrated by it - so was Jamie Walker!

I thought Kiwomya wasn't his usual self yesterday. Quite negative.

Players passing back all the time is nothing to do with being afraid of making mistakes, it's what they have been told to do by Hughes.

Quick question, slightly off topic but is there an algorithm you use to determine how many dots to insert in your posts rather than using commas to break up sentences?

    slap my wrists.
Only been to Colchester once because they always seem to be a Tues night and it’s the arse end of nowhere with absolutely nothing around the stadium to do before the game.
Didn’t go last year because it was a dead rubber and the season before was Covid.
Hopefully we won’t be playing them next season.

Watched on I follow last night and there were a couple of times we seemed to fanny about at the back then to midfield and back to Lewis repeat repeat the commentary said we were inviting the press. We got away with it and had pulled tranmere out of shape, a good ball from Clayton got us up the field with plenty of space and players attacking. Admittingly risky with league 2 players but it did work. 1 poor touch from us would have seen us in trouble but you could see the logic

I didn’t say younger, I think I said in the last five seasons, so “ newer” would be more apt.
If I did mention younger then hands up, I’m sorry. ( ( I can’t be ar5ed looking back)

It will bring success if we manage to stick the ball in the net once every 45 mins. The rest is irrelevant. Remember it’s goals that win games. One on each half will do….just like last nights Park.
