It baffled me after the Wycombe game that we reverted back the hoofball paceless set up.

Kavanagh, Richards and Pointon all full of running, happy to run with the ball or run in behind. Walker is enjoying just popping around the ball with them. Really good stuff on the left side.

 

Credit where credit is due.
A fantastic goal to cap a good all round performance, but let's not get carried away, if he can perform week in week out then great, but he needs to do that before the I told you so's can be justified.
Kavanagh makes a big difference imo and the wing backs are actually attacking which makes us a lot more threatening.
Plus we don't have in immobile Cook.

 

A welcome win but put in context against the worst side I've seen at VP this season. Who would have thought giving Pointon game time would be beneficial to the team eh Graham?
Still hasn't changed my mind about the club, a win against fairly pathetic opposition won't persuade me, Rupp out.

 

Its a self flagellating thing on here, we win opposition must be crap.

 

Cook being out, meant we had to keep the ball on the deck more than usual, which we did and moved it well between the forward players,
Some of the link up play was very good and what a finish by Bobby.

I dropped out of things this week Tony but was going to post midweek , but thought meh!

We will never have a dynamic forward line and do well with a largely static centre forward . We have to face facts. Good header of the ball but technically way off pace. Yes there will be those that don’t agree but hey…defences are absolutely terrified of technical pace no matter what league a club is in. . Oddly today showed it to a T ( Bar Smith) . As long as Cookie plays from the get go then we won’t progress. I’d like to see him as a threat later in the game tbh.

I can hear the toys hitting the floor as I type but it has to be said.

 

I didn’t say that Cook is the reason we’ve had a bad season. Just that there have been a few games now where we’ve looked really dynamic up front when we’ve had the younger more mobile players in attack. Walker and Pointon definitely contributed to that today as well.

I’ve said before, despite his goal scoring record being pretty decent this season I don’t feel like I’ve come away from many games this season thinking that Cook has a great game. He has a part to play in the team for sure but I’m not sure he’s a guaranteed starter every week for me.

You missed a decent game for once. Cook being out was key in my mind, We played the ball on the mud , moved the ball at pace and quite accurate .
The forward thinking players were very mobile.

 

Sorry but if you are pigeonholing Kavanagh with Smith and calling him woeful then I’m glad you’re not a scout for the club, you’ll make Gent look good! He’s also far from lightweight for his size, I’m shocked by this assessment tbh.

 

Sam Walker looks very good. Very impressed with his start here.

 

Should make the voice match your losses and donate it to the burns unit lol.
