I think most thought bringing Mark Hughes was a step in that direction.

 

He better against 21st team in div 2 at home. We need a uplifting win, maybe some goals (nose bleed time if that happens under Hughes)

 

I watch Swindon's game against Sutton and they were a delight to watch going forward and just the opposite defending, their 6 league games so far this season have yielded 31 goals great for a neutral.

 

Is it a league ruling that if the Team Captain is brought on as a sub (as in last weeks game) he is automatically is given the arm band, because for me he should have come on done his job then if Hughes picked him for the next game he took the Captains arm band, I did notice that at Mansfield last week.

 

That's exactly what we did second half we took the game to you, and whilst we did your defence was desperate at times, your the picky one I never said the full 45 minutes, but your correct with the one thing you've posted Hughes has taken us backwards.
Just love the "without being patronising" bit then being patronising with your "and got a few corners and everyone got so excited.

Think a lot of our fans agree with you on Hurst .

You were there for the taking today , but he reverts to type - not sure him and Hughes are that different are they ?

I can't disagree I did think it was quite poor in general - is that down to the style of play from both managers though ?

If you are winning and it's not great on the eye , you can get away with it but when it's not going well obviously fans are not happy .

I did think Conteh was good for us today , and the lad who's all left foot on the right looked good for you second half but apart from that no one really stood out for me .

When you signed Smallwood I thought he would dominate league 2 because he was quite good at Hull higher up , but in the games against us when I have seen him he's not looked much better than league 2 midfielders - how's he been overall ?

The ref I thought would get a big one wrong second half but he managed to get through.

 

How can you blame Hurst you were the only side that could string passes together the first half, there was only one team going to score that first half and that was Grimsby yet you have a go at Hurst, maybe asking your players why you only went in at half time 1 - 0 up would be a fairer take on the first half don't you think what a strange comment.

 

The lad all left foot on the right was making his full debut and he is called Bobby Pointon, Bradford lad and a supporter of the club.I think most City fans have high hopes for him and for Smallwood I would say he's been a disappointment for most of last season and this season mostly awful

 

Think if I were a Mariners fan I would be asking how we’ve managed to loose 9 points from winning positions this season

 

I don't know much about Hurst's style of play, I know we were linked with him before we were saddled with Hughes.
As for Hughes, second half he went back to the default of what kinda worked for him to some extent last season. Fans still rankled with Hughes very pragmatic approach to the playoffs. And that pragmatic approach is what sees us languishing in 16th place.

 

We are just very boring and difficult to watch. We didn’t deserve to lose today but we certainly didn’t deserve to win. I’m confident we will be around the playoffs again but it’s not going to be fun.
So far it looks like a very open league but I do wish we played a bit more of a an exciting brand of football. Swindon, Wrexham and even Crawley are scoring for fun yet we look like we are trying to win every game 1 nil. Once that doesn’t work, like today then Hughes changes to a more positive formation.
Pointon is the only positive thing from today. Every other player is just a bit meh. We would get battered in league 1 which is a worry considering the contracts we’ve handed out.

 

It took big spending Gillingham until the 95th minute to beat Harrogate today.

 

Yep, Not going to be easy, never is in general under Hughes but also Harrogate will probably have the best performance of the season from them.

 

16th v 21st we lose they are level on points with us. That's how bad we've been this season.

 

Hardly a revelation - he was out of work for 3 years and very much doubt he sat at home with his *@?$ in his hand waiting for the Bradford job.

 

Did anyone have a start as tough as ours, or are all games created equal?

I mean, genuine question, I don't know, I haven't looked, but it does feel like we've got some toughies out of the way.

 

Put into context we are one win of 5th place
