It's baffling, especially when Hodges coaching speciality is supposed to be set pieces.

 

Exactly why everyone said we needed to strengthen that area as a priority back in July.

 

This is probably the worst possible time to have Jake Young winning Player of the Month, when every single City striker is out injured...

I personally don't think Young is all that, and I don't think he's scoring that many this season despite his phenomenal start, but damn...

We literally don't have any options in the area he plays in.

 

We've got Derbyshire, Tulloch and Youmbi.

That's 3 centre forwards for one position.

 

I know, we have that many attacking players I can’t remember all of them. You have to possess good man management skills to keep a large squad happy. They all should want to play, but that can be very frustrating. Maybe fate is forcing MH hand here, he will have to play players he wouldn’t normally. However, he did say he would rotate the players, but he never did last season, and he has been reluctant this season. So here comes a kick up the backside. The shadow of Jake Young is hanging over him.

 

I think we'll play Tulloch myself.

He seems to be considered a senior player.

 

Awful 20 mins. We have no idea how to move the ball forwards. Having 5 defenders and 2 defensive minds doesn't help mind.

 

Absolute dire match. The amount of times halliday has got the ball and had nothing in front of him.

 

Every game we persist with Hughes at the helm is a game wasted.

 

There are so many problems with this formation but a clear on this half has been that if Richards goes to mark their winger and Kelly therefore goes inside to stand alongside Stubbs then absolutely no one picks up their wide midfielder or right back and they have no pressure to stop the crosses.

 

Complete shit, thank God I've been drinking locally three hours prior to coming home early to watch that shower of crap....what a waste of $19.00 Aussie dollars.

He's the one positive. He plays proactively and with a purpose. Hughes will coach that out of him though.

 

We weren't as bad. Second half was better, but we went from awful to average. First and only shot on target after 88 mins. Its not good enough, and Hughes needs to go.

 

Don't get me wrong, I'm not his biggest fan but I wouldn't underestimate the impact of one class act like Pointon who could make the difference. To play like we did in the 2nd half today without all of our front line I'd very very encouraging for me.

 

Yes we were better second half but that's totally missing the point. Once again Hughes is forced to make changes at half time after his original line up gets totally outplayed and outhought by a journeyman lower league manager.

He is consistently outhought and our system is easy to nullify at this level.

 

Also said we quickly changed it. Not that quickly let a full half go by before changing anything.

 

That first half was on a par with anything I saw from any of the past half a dozen managers we've had. And with that I just can't trust him not to revert back to this stupid formation he keeps trying. We've literally had one effort on goal today, simply not good enough.

 

Cracking weather you've brought with you though, I really feel for you mate, to be fair both the Colchester and Crewe games were not much better, we seem incapable of stringing two passes together never mind two descent halves of football.

 

Hughes is stubborn beyond belief. He's never wrong.
