We all saw it within 5 minutes, why wait 'til half time .. ?

 

I expect some City players to perform brilliantly in front of Sky cameras, maybe in defiance of team orders, to get noticed.

Secondly, I'm concerned that I will oversleep, miss the bus and train to Bradford, because I'm sitting up enjoying my new hi-fi and old music at nearly 2am.

 

I've watched us under Hughes for 2 years and the consistent themes are, we're awful to watch, he's stubborn in his approach, we can't move the ball from back to front, he sticks with things that don't work, and any 'successes' we have are largely down to Cook doing it on his own. This isn't about a tricky spell or a couple of players missing. My view is based on 2 years as a whole which for me, is long enough. There isn't enough there, and every game he stays is time wasted.

 

My god, despite the injuries, that first half was Mr negatives finest hour in negativity.

For the love of God, if he doesn't ditch this 3 at the back nonsense, he has to go for me.

Well done Bobby Pointon, an outstanding home debut for the youngsters. Very skilful and he has a good footballing brain in him for one so inexperienced.

Good to see Gilliead back, pleased for him for his goal.

Over to you Hughes, ditch the negative boring tactics, and you will see the fans respond like they did in the second half.

 

We look equally ineffective with a fully fit complement. Last season, we had 4 or 5 games with zero shots on target. Its about Hughes, not injuries.

 

A half decent side wipes the floor with both of those playing today. At times the football was no better than amateur level. A crowd of over 18,000 deserves to be served up better than that shite on show.

 

That first half was nothing short of dire!!

Lot better in the second half.

We will get nowhere playing defence first football. MH needs to sort it out very quickly.

 

The fact that Pointon kept trying and didn’t let his head go down despite the shitshow that was going on around him in the first half is a massive credit to him.
It may be just youthful exuberance but he should be very proud of his 90 minute performance.

 

Why we didn’t sign a striker pre season is ridiculous.
Relying on cook the whole season was just stupid. You can’t assume another free scoring season.

Waiting for an injured striker (Oliver) to return who let’s face it, didn’t blow us away before his injury.

I sometimes feel Hughes just makes it up as he goes along

Well what can we say with regards that dire first half you do have to wonder what's going on in Mark Hughes head, at half time he makes changes goes with what looked like 4-4-2 we look a half descent side, but he'll make his formation work if it kills him, not heard his post match interviews as yet but IMO the players look frightened to death of trying anything positive, although Lewis made a good save second half I believe it effecting him the most he's not half the player he was last season.
This cant continue Mr Hughes a very good home debut by the kid is one of the positives we can take from the second half display, Tulloch and Afokaat look two very capable players.
And Young gets another 3 - 0 Swindon.

 

It very much looks that way, there's a guy who sits 2 rows down from me we've had a few disagreements over the years but when the Grimsby fans started chanting "sacked in the morning you're getting sacked in the morning" I started laughing and went along with others sat near clapping, he was not amused making his default comment "why don't you support the players/manager" I said if your happy with what your seeing crack on, a few around me laughed, I thought I could be classed as a happy clapper at times, seriously some fans were happy with that first half performance, unbelievable Geoff.

 

We thought he was good, and gave Pointon good support.

 

Halliday bashing?

I haven't seen any, but anyone bashing Halliday today is inept.

 

We cannot continue the never ending revolving door when it comes to managers.
I love the club and the best long term outcome would be for Hughes to sort out his formations, turn this sh*t around and get us out of this division. You and an increasing number of others clearly think there is no chance of that happening and tbh you may well prove to be correct.
Imo a change now means yet another reset and I dont have the appetite (yet) to go through that again. The window is shut now so nothing else we can do transfer wise till January. We have injured players to come back and MH absolutely has to see sense and scrap the 3 CB approach.
I'm losing patience and he's clearly on borrowed time, but for me he stays for now but has to sort it.

If we do away with the 5 at the back then we have the strength in depth to be a force in this division
It all hinges on Hughes to recognise that 5 at the back does not suit us.

 

Agree with with all your points but regards his corners you have to wonder how a kid of 19 can put his corner kick within a certain area in the penalty box consistently, yet our usual players mainly Smallwood with a wealth of football experience doesn't have any sort of consistency with either his corners or free kicks.

Context is difficult on a forum. I genuinely believe that 99.9% of us would all get along sharing points in person, maybe over a pint, whereas in here in text form, it tends to lead to misunderstandings and reactionary posts.

 

Not going, not been to a game this season.
Hughes is doing an admiral job of sucking the life out what is meant to be entertainment.
Although he gets most of the flack I personally think Hodges is just as culpable.
