What stood out for me and reminded me of earlier in the season, both Chapman and Banks were ineffective first half. Both unable to stamp any authority on the game. Looking at those who are out, only Derbyshire and Walker offer anything, Osadebe, Nevers, Bola and Eisa haven't shown they're capable of bringing anything to the party. We need Walker and Derbyshire back fully fit for the remaining games.

As for who to play Gilliead needs to actually contribute in the final third for once to justify selection, last time I checked goals in football were pretty important and it’s something we lack.

 

Gilliead pretty much said the same in his interview on Radio Leeds, which I found interesting.

It's a shame we don't use Ryan East a bit more, as he made a Gilliead-esque lung busting run up field, AND found a man that (I think) led to a cross/chance.

Wouldn't mind us trying to accommodate both for a game or two.

 

They shouldn’t ever scrap the play offs and they’ve been around a lot longer than the new Wembley. I think they give clubs every chance to keep the season alive. Many times in the 70s City’s season was dead by feb/March as top far too far away but now the seasons alive even for someone like Doncaster this season who are 12th at the moment thanks to the play offs.

I'm waiting for the line up for this one. If it's unchanged then it's an evening in front of the TV for me. I simply can't be bothered to travel even 20 minutes to watch that style of football any more, it's beyond depressing. At least at home I'll be able to turn it over once the second Carlisle goal hits the net.

Can't fault them for effort, and we were better second half, but still had no goal threat about us. Unless Cook does something on his own, we have nothing. It's a common theme and hasn't been sorted all season long.

Absolute credit for that second half vs first. We were by far the better team and even though we didn’t make the keeper work enough, we were unlucky. Just where have those performances been at home this season??

Smallwood had a good game but Gillead was as good as I can remember him for a very long time and was my MotM.

It was refreshing to see some faces we haven’t seen for a while and at times we looked more dangerous for it and not relying as Cook as our only outlet. Begs the question, where has this rotation been in the past 4-6 weeks?

Thank goodness that Gibson effort came back off the post - of all the players and time in the game that would have been almost impossible to swallow.

 

I couldn't believe what I was hearing driving home, we were very very poor most of the first half, once again we go in at halft time still in the game yet Morais was trying to suggest it was a great game, second half yes but first half there was only one team looked like scoring
Second half we come out and give Carlise a game why can't Hughes change things during the first half whilst the games in play.
Was it me or did the referee allow the Carlise player to get treatment on the pitch then not make him leave the playing area ?.

 

Bar that I thought the ref was decent. Carlisle shaded first half we were better second. Good to see Hughes make some attacking substitutions. The change of shape helped us get the better of them second half.
I can see why they are up there. Lots of effort physicality closing us down quickly preventing us playing. Lots of effort. Low on quality. Chapmans decision making is amazingly bad. Another good effort by cook making chances for himself. Deserved a goal. Autos still possible but we have to play with that level of intensity in all remaining games. Any more lackadaisical performances and it will be too late.
