    Stockport fan here!

After 11 years in non-league, I’ve been writing a couple of articles looking back at County’s last home and away games against all the teams we’ll be facing in League Two next season.

Our last trip to Valley Parade was a real stomach-punch, the year we went out the league. Down to nine men, 2-1 up, you equalised before getting a 90th minute winner. The game at Edgeley Park was 1-1.

There’s some Bradford content in both articles, as well as the time I took Viagra at Donny away (which was actually in Bradford!) and Tranmere fans snapping our crossbar in two when they stayed up.

Yes welcome back, a good addition to L2 without doubt, an actual proper football club coming up is good to see especially instead of some millionaires Wrexham play thing, hope Grimsby come up also.

I always remember the games between Ian Ormandroyd and Kevin Francis 2 beanpole strikers and also that Stockport played in purple

I liked Stockport away. Black Surridge shirt that disfigured your face pulling on due to tight neck. Ooh Adebola. A prolific Dean Windass. Happy days.

Edit: that black shirt was actually the season after. 2004/5 was the year we won 1-0 at Edgeley Park early season.

City team that day; Henderson, Horrorway, Bower, Wethers, Emanuel, muirhead, schuey, Crooks, Summerbee (underrated), Deano, Adebola

Ricketts, Gavin and Symes amongst the subs.

    Thanks Soccerbase.

Windass scored 28 that year. Yes. 28. What a player he was.

Ha, Wiki’d him and yes he did. He was certainly a nuisance.

Luke Beckett was a pain again us all the time too.

Bridge-Wilkinson came off the bench for them when we won there in 2004. Liked him at City, a tidy little player alongside Schuey.

Francis and Preece used to tear us to bits.

I remember the Stockport game at VP when Stockport went down to 9 men, we missed a penalty, were losing 2-1, and scored a 90th minute winner in front of the kop. One of my all time favourite City games!
Would love to see the highlights again.

Was it 2002 when Stockport got relegated from what is now the Championship, only winning about 4 games all season but beating us home and away?

I remember it chucking it down on a Tuesday night at Edgeley Park and us giving the team absolute pelters at full time, don't think I'd ever seen anything quite like it from City fans at the time.

And I believe a certain Peter Taylors last game in charge, without doubt if it was not for the Stockport lads getting reds we wouldn't have collected all three points that day, if you remember Trevor Kettle refereed the game so no surprise with regards the sending's off.

Some great battles over the years, on and off the pitch!

Not sure how we became such rivals in the 70's though. I seem to recall it was Stockport and Barnsley in those days that were our great rivals

Did we get smashed 4-2 at home or have I made that up?

Seem to remember one was a handball on the line, the other an elbow into the face of Luke Oliver (with blood to show for it). Two clear reds :)

Lived in Edgeley in early 80s and saw more Stockport games than City, including bizarrely a friendly against Zambia! Unfortunately there was a significant number of hooligans on both sides. Remember one game where we had to try to avoid volleys of darts. Good atmosphere though and hopefully without trouble these days.
